THE BAND WILL ALSO HEADLINE CLUB DATES THROUGHOUT THE OCT/NOV US RUN THE ANSWER’S US DEBUT RELEASE ‘EVERYDAY DEMONS’ NOMINATED FOR BEST ALBUM AT THE CLASSIC ROCK AWARDS

The Answer, from Northern Ireland, has been selected to continue as the only opening act for the final North American encore leg of AC/DC’s Black Ice World Tour. The itinerary kicks off October 1st at the US Airways Arena in Phoenix, AZ and concludes on November 8 in Houston, TX at the Toyota Center. The Answer will also headline their own club shows on off days throughout the tour.

The Black Ice World Tour represents The Answer’s third tour of America with AC/DC. Their mammoth sound is often compared to Black Crowes and Free, and is fully primed for stadium and arena shows. In Europe, they’ve opened concerts for the Rolling Stones, The Who, Aerosmith and just completed a tour of Europe with AC/DC. In addition, the group has headlined tours in the U.K., Europe, Japan and Australia.

“Everyday Demons” is The Answer’s explosive new album which was released on March 31st on The End Records, distributed through RED and was recorded in summer ’08 in Los Angeles with John Travis (Kid Rock, Static-X, Killing Heidi, etc.) producing.

In the last year the band has appeared in Rolling Stone and Spin Magazine as well as having played on The Late Show with David Letterman. Billboard recently named the band one of the “Best Bets of 09.” The four Belfast boys also made their video game debut when Activision chose their song “Never Too Late” for Guitar Hero IV: World Tour. And “Everyday Demons” was just nominated for “Album Of The Year” at the 2009 Classic Rock Awards.

The Answer is comprised of four friends, musicians and songwriters from Downpatrick, a country town some twenty miles south of Belfast: Cormac Neeson (lead vocals), Paul Mahon (guitar), Micky Waters (bass) and James Heatley (drums). The U.K.’s Classic Rock Magazine voted them 2005′s Best New UK Band at their prestigious Classic Rock Roll of Honour Awards and called them, “The biggest new rock band of the decade.” Similarly, Kerrang! praised “Rise” as “the best British rock debut of the decade” and reviewed a U.K. live show by The Answer as “F*@king stupendous.”

Get ready for their triumphant return to North America on October 1st as they hit the road with AC/DC and stay tuned for more headline gigs across the country to be announced soon.

On October 26th, 2008 AC/DC played their first show in 5 years. Dedicated fans from all over the world traveled to the small industrial town of Wilkes-Barre, PA to be there. A few select fans were chosen to be featured in this documentary. Their stories reflect the commitment and passion of what it means to be a true AC/DC fan over the years. The documentary can be seen now at ACDCFannation.com

Black Ice made history debuting at #1 on album charts in 29 countries and also has the distinction of being Columbia Records’ biggest debut album (since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking sales data in 1991). Black Ice has been certified Multi Platinum in eighteen countries, including the US, Australia, Canada, Switzerland, Sweden, Norway, Germany, France, Italy, Argentina and the Czech Republic.

AC/DC take their hugely successful Black Ice World Tour to Europe. AC/DC kicked off their Black Ice World Tour in late October 2008, crisscrossing North America and garnering raves from critics along the way. The Dallas Morning News raved “This is real rock n roll,” while The Boston Globe exclaimed “AC/DC is the greatest band ever.”

The Black Ice World Tour was given the ‘Major Tour of the Year’ award at the 20th Annual Pollstar Concert Industry Awards. The awards ceremony took place in Los Angeles on January 30th at Nokia Theatre.

Released globally on October 20, 2008, Black Ice was recently certified Double Platinum in the U.S. Black Ice is AC/DC’s first new album in over eight years and it’s evident the band is still an incredible force in rock.

Black Ice made history debuting at #1 on album charts in 29 countries and also has the distinction of being Columbia Records’ biggest debut album (since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking sales data for Billboard in March of 1991). Black Ice has been certified Multi Platinum in eight countries, including the US, Australia, Canada, Switzerland, Sweden, Norway, Germany and the Czech Republic. Additionally Black Ice has achieved Platinum status in twelve countries (Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, UK, Argentina, Singapore and New Zealand) and Gold status in four countries (Netherland, Spain, Poland and Brazil). With over 6.5 million copies of Black Ice shipped worldwide, combined with over 5.5 million in catalog sold this year, AC/DC have surpassed The Beatles as the #1 selling catalog artist in the US for 2008. In the US, Black Ice is being sold exclusively at Walmart, Sam’s Club, and www.acdc.com.

BLACK ICE CERTIFIED PLATINUM IN MULTIPLE COUNTRIES

AC/DC add stadium shows to their Black Ice World Tour beginning in Leipzig, Germany on May 13, 2009 and running through June 30, 2009 in Glasgow, Scotland. AC/DC kicked off their hugely successful Black Ice World Tour in late October and the press can’t stop raving about the band’s incredible live performance. The Chicago Tribune called their live show, “a celebration of all that is great about Rock N Roll,” while The Boston Globe exclaimed “AC/DC is the greatest band ever.” The tour is currently making its way across the United States before heading to Europe, see below for full itinerary.

Released globally on October 20, 2008, Black Ice is AC/DC’s first new album in over eight years and it’s evident the band are still an incredible force in rock. The Washington Post noted that “Black Ice is the best record the band has made in decades” and People magazine put it best by saying “Black Ice finds the Australian rockers at their headbanging, power-chord-crunching best.” “Rock N Roll Train,” the first single from Black Ice has been nominated for a Grammy Award in the category of Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals. This is AC/DC’s fifth Grammy Award nomination.

Retailer launches ‘Rock Again AC/DC Store’ in 3,500 locations

New York and LA ‘AC/DC Rock Band Pop Up Stores’ and Black Ice Trucks Get Ready

For AC/DC fans about to rock … Walmart salutes you! This weekend thousands of fans will converge in groups, stores and in special events for the release of Black Ice — AC/DC’s first album in eight years, coming to all Walmart stores and Sam’s Club locations Monday, Oct. 20. The album will begin selling at 12:01 a.m. in 24-hour Walmart stores.

Since the original announcement for Black Ice, news on the band continues, including the recent announcement of a new U.S. concert tour and the advent of the unique AC/DC LIVE: Rock Band(R) Track Pack(TM) video game, also to be sold exclusively by Walmart and Sam’s Club starting early November.

Now, upon the retail launch of Black Ice, Columbia Records and Walmart plan to give fans even more access to this legendary band. In each of its 3,500 Walmart stores, Walmart will create a “Rock Again AC/DC Store” within the store. While the new $11.88 Black Ice CD album holds centerstage, it will be surrounded by new AC/DC apparel, DVDs, past albums, games, and even a social gaming station for fans to try out their rock-n-roll skills on Rock Band.

In addition, Walmart and Columbia Records have partnered with MTV to create an “AC/DC Rock Band Store” in New York’s Times Square and in Los Angeles to give fans in the these cities fast access to the band’s newest items. These pop up stores will open 12:01 midnight Oct. 20 to begin selling the album, AC/DC apparel, the Rock Band video game, and Rock Band branded apparel and accessories.

Also new, Walmart has dispatched interactive Black Ice trucks on the streets of New York City and Los Angeles this week. Making new stops each day, the trucks fill the air with AC/DC music, invite fans to be the first to hear the new album before release, and allow players to demo the new AC/DC LIVE: Rock Band(R) Track Pack game on the truck’s back stage. These trucks will also sell the album starting 12:01 a.m. Oct. 20.

Featuring 15 tracks, Black Ice is AC/DC’s first album of all new material in eight years. It will be sold exclusively at Walmart, Walmart.com, Sam’s Club, samsclub.com, and acdc.com for $11.88, with free shipping online. Fans can go to walmart.com/acdc to preview tracks from the new CD, checkout new videos of the band, get information on the pop up store and Black Ice truck schedules, shop for apparel and more.

“Fans have waited more than eight years for a new record from AC/DC and finally the wait is over,” said Columbia Records co-Chairman Steve Barnett. “The band has consistently delivered the kind of anthemic rock music that defines generations and ‘Black Ice’ continues in that tradition.”

“We’ve turned up the volume to support what we know is one of this year’s most awaited albums from one of the world’s most popular bands,” said Gary Severson, Wal-Mart’s senior vice president of Entertainment. “This is the first time in our history where we’ve taken such a large area within our store to celebrate a legendary band, and we invite fans of all ages to come out with us and get ready to rock. Only at Walmart can you find all of these items together, easily and affordably, to celebrate their U.S. tour and music.”

The “Rock Again AC/DC Store” provides music fans with unbeatable values on everything AC/DC, including:

Exclusive Black Ice album

More than nine varieties of AC/DC and Black Ice t-shirts

AC/DC sleepwear and hats

“No Bull: The Director’s Cut” AC/DC DVD

A wide selection of past albums, still some of the most popular catalogue music sold

Rock Band 2

Exclusive AC/DC LIVE: Rock Band(R) Track Pack (in November)

THE ANSWER’S US DEBUT RELEASE, AN EP/DVD NEVER TOO LATE, COMES OUT NOVEMBER 11 – THE TITLE TRACK WILL BE FEATURED ON THE NEW GUITAR HERO: WORLD TOUR RELEASE.

The Answer, an emergent and award-winning rock band from Northern Ireland, has been selected as the opening act for the imminent North American leg of AC/DC’s Black Ice World Tour. The itinerary kicks off October 28 at the Wachovia Center in Wilkes-Barre, PA and concludes on January 31 at Nashville Sommet Centre, Nashville, TN. Highlights on the road also include dates at NYC’s Madison Square Garden on November 12-13 and The Forum in Los Angeles on December 6. Prior to the AC/DC shows, The Answer will perform a unique US debut club headline show as part of the RED CMJ music festival at The Crash Mansion, New York on October 25. This will be a rare opportunity to savor the band’s first-ever thunderous and explosive headlining club gig before they head off to tour with AC/DC.

The Black Ice World Tour represents The Answer’s debut tour of America, and AC/DC’s first outing since ’01. The Answer, whose mammoth sound is often compared to Black Crowes and Free, are fully primed for stadium and arena shows and in Europe, they’ve opened concerts for the Rolling Stones, the Who, Aerosmith and other legendary bands. In addition, the group has headlined tours in the U.K., Europe, Japan and Australia, where their first album “Rise” was released to great acclaim and sold over 100,000 units on the Australia and U.K.-based independent label Albert Productions.

Says lead singer Cormac Neeson, “It is an honour and privilege for The Answer to be offered the opportunity to support probably the greatest rock ‘n’ roll act on the planet. We are incredibly humbled.”

Coinciding with the tour, The Answer will also make its North American recording debut with the November 11 release of NEVER TOO LATE, a 4-song EP and bonus DVD featuring previously unseen footage, live performance highlights and exclusive band interviews. Only available in North America, the limited-edition 2-disc title is on the independent label The End Records, with distribution through Sony RED. The EP opens with the title track “Never Too Late,” a song that originally appeared on Rise, and which will also be featured on Activision’s forthcoming release of the hotly anticipated game Guitar Hero(R): World Tour (due 10/26). The EP will be available at all retailers, online outlets and digital.

Other tracks on NEVER TOO LATE include the live recording “Come Follow Me” and the slow blues burner “The Doctor.” The EP also gives fans a taste of The Answer’s forthcoming new album with “Highwater or Hell,” a preview from what will be the band’s first full-length release in North America. Slated for an early 2009 street date on The End Records, the new album was recorded in summer ’08 at Los Angeles studio Seedy Underbelly with John Travis (Kid Rock, Static-X, Killing Heidi, etc.) producing. It was mixed in Los Angeles by Tim Palmer and in Vancouver by Mike Fraser (who recently did AC/DC’s Black Ice).

The Answer is comprised of four friends, musicians and songwriters from Downpatrick, a country town some twenty miles south of Belfast: Cormac Neeson (lead vocals), Paul Mahon (guitar), Micky Waters (bass) and James Heatley (drums). The U.K.’s Classic Rock Magazine voted them 2005′s Best New UK Band at their prestigious Classic Rock Roll of Honour Awards and called them, “The biggest new rock band of the decade.” Similarly, Kerrang! praised Rise as “the best British rock debut of the decade” and reviewed a U.K. live show by The Answer as “F*@king stupendous.”

Get ready for their invasion of America on October 28 as they hit the road with AC/DC.

For more information on The Answer, visit http://www.theanswer.ie/; http://www.myspace.com/theanswerrock
