Columbia Records congratulates its artists Adele, John Mayer, Bruce Springsteen, Mary Mary, MGMT and remixers Justice, John Legend, the late Miles Davis and album notes writer Francis Davis, as well as producer Rick Rubin for their 2009 Grammy Award wins, announced on February 8.

2009 brought first-time Grammy nominee Adele two Grammy Awards including Best New Artist and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for the song “Chasing Pavements,” a key track from her debut album “19.”

Previous Columbia Records Grammy winners John Mayer, Bruce Springsteen, contemporary gospel duo Mary Mary, and John Legend added new Grammy Awards to their respective career totals.

Mayer, who won his first Grammy in 2002, took home trophies for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance (for “Say,” a track from “Continuum”) and Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance (for “Gravity,” from “Where The Light Is – Live In Los Angeles”) bringing his career total up to seven.

With 18 previous Grammy Awards to his credit, music legend Bruce Springsteen brought his career total up to 19 with this year’s Best Rock Song trophy for “Girls In Their Summer Clothes,” a track from the album “Magic.”

Sisters Erica Atkins and Tina Atkins, a/k/a the groundbreaking contemporary gospel duo Mary Mary, added a second Grammy Award to the group’s collection with 2009′s Best Gospel Performance honors for “Get Up,” a stand-out track from their latest album, “The Sound.”

Columbia Records artist John Legend, who won his first three Grammys — including Best New Artist — in 2005, brought his lifetime total up to six with this year’s Best R&B Performance By A Duo or Group with Vocals honors for “Lay It Down,” a track he cut with Al Green for the master of soul’s “Lay It Down” album (a non-Columbia Records release).

Other first-time Grammy nominees MGMT won the Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical award for “Electric Feel,” a track from the group’s highly-acclaimed “Oracular Spectacular” album as remixed by the French electronic music duo Justice.

The Columbia Records/Legacy Recordings release, “Kind Of Blue: 50th Anniversary Collector’s Edition,” the seminal opus from legendary jazz trumpeter/composer Miles Davis, was singled out for the Best Album Notes Grammy for the lively and scholarly annotations by writer Francis Davis.

Rick Rubin won the Producer of the Year, Non-Classical Grammy Award for his work on the Columbia albums “Home Before Dark” by Neil Diamond, “Mercy (Dancing For The Death Of An Imaginary Enemy)” by Ours and “Seeing Things” by Jakob Dylan as well as non-Columbia releases. Rubin first won the Producer of the Year Grammy in 2006.

SIRIUS XM Radio announced that Bruce Springsteen will guest deejay a special on E Street Radio, the exclusive commercial-free channel dedicated to the music of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. The Bruce Springsteen special will air on E Street Radio SIRIUS channel 10 and XM channel 58.

Bruce Springsteen sat down with Dave Marsh, SIRIUS XM host and music journalist, to play music hand-picked by Bruce from his personal record collection. Bruce will share how he discovered each song and what he likes about the music in his commentary. SIRIUS XM listeners will hear Bruce playing a variety of music ranging from folk songs to contemporary music including hip hop and progressive rock.

The first edition of the Bruce Springsteen guest deejay special will premiere on Monday, January 19 at 4 pm ET and will be rebroadcast on Tuesday, January 20 at 12 midnight and 8 am ET; Wednesday, January 21 at 11 am ET; Thursday, January 22 at 6 pm ET; Friday, January 23 at 4 pm ET; Saturday, January 24 at 12 midnight and 8 am ET; and Sunday, January 25 at 4 pm ET.

The second edition of Bruce’s guest deejay special will premiere on Monday, January 26 at 4 pm ET and will be rebroadcast on Tuesday, January 27 at 12 midnight and 8 am ET; Wednesday, January 28 at 11 am; Thursday, January 29 at 6 pm ET; Friday, January 30 at 4 pm ET; and Saturday, January 31 at 12 midnight and 8 am ET.

E Street Radio has featured guest DJ sessions with celebrity fans including Golden Globe Award(R)-winning actor Mickey Rourke, critically-acclaimed film director Darren Aronofsky, Ed Burns, Joe Piscopo, music producer Brendan O’Brien, Steve Earle, Chris MadDog Russo, Vinnie Pastore, Wyclef Jean, Senator Bill Bradley, Mojo Nixon, Kevin Bacon, E Street Band members “Little Steven” Van Zandt, Clarence Clemons, Max Weinberg and Nils Lofgren.

SIRIUS XM Radio will air Bruce Springsteen’s special holiday show performances from December 2001 on E Street Radio, the exclusive and commercial-free channel dedicated to the music of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. The performances will air on New Year’s Day, January 1 at 3:00 pm ET on E Street Radio SIRIUS channel 10 and XM channel 58.

From 2000 to 20004 Bruce Springsteen played a number of holiday shows to benefit Asbury Park local area charities. The performances include various members of the “E Street family” performing a wide range of songs, including some of the band’s favorite holiday tunes.

SIRIUS XM’s E Street Radio will broadcast the performance from the December 7 and December 8, 2001 shows featuring Bruce and members of the E Street Band. Special guests include Max Weinberg, Southside Johnny, The Miami Horns, Bruce Hornsby, Garland Jeffreys and a special duet with Elvis Costello and Bruce of “Alison (My Aim Is True).”

The December 7, 2001 performance will air at 3:00 pm ET and the December 8, 2001 performance will air immediately after, approximately at 6:00 pm ET on E Street Radio SIRIUS channel 10 and XM channel 58.

The special performances will air following the 12:00 pm ET replay of the previous night’s live airing of Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes New Year’s Eve 2008/2009 performance at the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank, New Jersey.

SIRIUS XM recently extended the run of E Street Radio through mid-2009. This is the second time SIRIUS XM has extended the popular music channel’s limited run.
