As previously announced, VH1 Classic has proclaimed 11-11-11 as “National Metal Day” and will celebrate with a slew of exclusive metal programming, including three major metal premieres: “Behind The Music Remastered” at 9PM ET/PT, the exclusive debut of Banger Films’ groundbreaking documentary series, “ Metal Evolution” at 10PM ET/PT and the ninth season premiere of a VH1 Classic original “That Metal Show” at 11PM ET/PT.

“Behind The Music Remastered: Megadeth” premieres Friday, November 11 at 9PM ET/PT
They’ve been the champions of thrash metal for nearly thirty years, despite discord, addiction and infighting. Updated to the original episode are Dave Mustaine’s crippling hand injury which threatens the bands survival, a painful law suit and more walk outs and throw outs of band members. Now they’re in the Big Four and still aiming for the top spot, but even if Dave Mustaine is happy with the new line up he remains unhappy about their ranking in the top ten of heavy metal – still just behind Metallica.

“Metal Evolution Chapter 1: Pre-Metal” premieres Friday, November 11 at 10 PM ET/PT
The premiere episode of “Metal Evolution Chapter 1: Pre-Metal” will focus on Pre-Metal, the earliest sounds of metal that can be heard in the music of Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple and Jimi Hendrix. Subsequent episodes of the series will explore genres ranging from British Heavy Metal to Glam Metal to Thrash Metal, and artists from Iron Maiden to KISS to Metallica and more. “Metal Evolution” is an 11-episode docu-series produced by Scot McFadyen and Sam Dunn of Banger Films and is based on the groundbreaking “Heavy Metal Family Tree.” The “Heavy Metal Family Tree” is a 26 sub-genre genealogical chart which reveals the vast complex progeny of heavy metal – from Early Metal and Shock Rock to Thrash, from Progressive Metal to Grunge and Nu Metal. Using the chart as his road map, host/producer and metal head turned anthropologist Dunn, crisscrosses the globe exploring the vast history of heavy metal across its 40+ year history and beyond. After the premiere episode on National Metal Day, “Metal Evolution” will move to its regular time slot on Saturdays at 10 PM ET/PT, beginning Saturday, November 19 between new episodes of “BTM:Remastered” at 9PM ET/PT and “That Metal Show” at 11PM ET/PT.

“That Metal Show” Season Nine premieres Friday, November 11 at 11PM ET/PT
The boys are back and there’s gonna be some trouble! Eddie Trunk, Don Jamison and Jim Florentine are back in LA and brining the heat with season nine of “That Metal Show.” An all-star lineup of iconic metal guests grace the stage this season including: Marilyn Manson, Slash, Sully Erna, Jesse James Dupree, Tracii Guns, Brian Johnson, Dave Mustaine and more! Season nine of “ THAT METAL SHOW “ will deliver the ever popular “Stump The Trunk” and “TMS TOP 5″ segments.

To warm up for the National Metal Day celebration, VH1 Classic has scheduled 11 days worth of legendary metal programming beginning Tuesday, November 1 . Every night during the 11 days of metal, VH1 Classic will make an offering to the metal gods with a nightly concert at 11 PM ET/PT. Legends Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Alice Cooper, Led Zeppelin, Metallica, Motley Crue, KISS, Ozzy Osbourne and Iron Maiden will be featured.

Vh1 Classic will line up the highlights of its library of classic metal concerts on Tuesday, November 8, 2011 with a relentless line-up including:

6 pm ET/PT: Download Festival 2011 (featuring Def Leppard, Thin Lizzy, System of a Down, Alice Cooper, Linkin Park, Rob Zombie, Twisted Sister)

11 PM ET/PT: MTV World Stage: KISS

Of course the metal story is not just concerts. On Wednesday, November 9, 2011, VH1 Classic will air a metal music video marathon with “Metal Mania: The Greatest Metal Videos Ever A to Z” from 11AM to 11PM ET/PT.

By the time National Metal Day finally arrives on Friday, November 11 , the line-up will be bolstered with features like “The Decline of Western Civilization,” “Metal: A Headbanger’s Journey,” and, of course, “This is Spinal Tap” – the movie that taught metal heads everywhere to take it to 11.

Additional concerts, movies and specials focusing on metal will air during the month of November. Please visit www.vh1classic.com for a full list of programming.

39 years ago today, a young man dressed in a black velvet jacket, adorned in gold chains and an oversized gold belt buckle presented himself at the northwest gate of the White House.

Elvis Presley, the most popular singer of his time, handed the White House security agents a handwritten letter addressed to the President of the United States, Richard Nixon, requesting a meeting with him. His five-page letter, written on American Airlines stationery, also indicated his desire to become a federal agent in the war on drugs and said, “P.S. . . I have a personal gift for you which I would like to present to you and I hope that you can accept it. . . ” The gift was a World War II-era Colt 45 pistol.

The letter set of a chain of events that eventually led to a meeting — within hours — between the “king of rock ‘n’ roll” and the “leader of the free world.” Security prevented Presley from presenting the President with the gun, but Nixon’s aides accepted it on his behalf, complete with some bullets.

At the meeting, pictures and detailed notes were taken. The photograph of Presley and Nixon, major figures in American culture and politics at the time, is still one of the most requested photographs from the National Archives’ holdings of 15 million images.

The famous meeting will be the highlight of a special event at the National Archives on Wednesday, January 6, 2010. Two eyewitnesses: Egil “Bud” Krogh, who was an Assistant to the Counsel to the President, and Jerry Schilling, a music industry professional and long-time friend of Presley will describe the encounter. The discussion, which is free and open to the public, will be moderated by Timothy Naftali, Director of the Nixon Presidential Library in Yorba Linda, California, and introduced by David S. Ferriero, Archivist of the United States.

The program commemorates the 75th anniversary of Presley’s birth on January 8; the next day is the 97th anniversary of Nixon’s birth.

The program will be held at 7 p.m. in the William G. McGowan Theater at the National Archives. Admission is free. The McGowan Theater will open 30 minutes before the start of the program. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. The public should use the Special Events Entrance to the National Archives, 7th Street and Constitution Avenue, NW.

Few figures in popular culture have endured in our collective consciousness as has multi-Grammy® Award-winning artist Elvis Presley. Crowned as the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll, Presley’s revolutionary rockabilly music and captivating performances were as much a part of his legend as his uninhibited hip swivels, blue suede shoes, his charm and good looks. There have been motion pictures, television specials and books chronicling the roller-coaster life of Elvis Presley, and one of the most successful of these properties came in the acclaimed 1979 film ELVIS, starring Golden Globe nominee Kurt Russell in the title role, directed by John Carpenter. This highly regarded production captures the essence of The King at a time when his many fans were still mourning his passing. Hailed by audiences as one of the most powerful and moving biographical films, ELVIS garnered a Golden Globe nomination and multiple Emmy® nominations, including one for Kurt Russell as Outstanding Lead Actor for his incandescent performance as the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll. The film also marked Carpenter and Russell’s first collaboration in what would become a legendary pairing.

Timed closely to coincide with the 75th anniversary of Elvis Presley’s birth, Shout! Factory, in association with dick clark Productions, present ELVIS on DVD for the first time March 2, 2010. This collectible DVD features the main presentation of the movie restored from the original film elements as it was meant to be seen, as well as an array of bonus features including: “Bringing A Legend To Life,” a featurette with archival interviews of Kurt Russell and John Carpenter (1979); commentary by “The Voice Of Elvis,” Ronnie McDowell, and author Edie Hand; rare clips and captivating photo gallery. Even 33 years after his passing, Presley continues to burn a powerful image of rock stardom and still conquers new legions of fans through his indelible mark in worldwide pop culture. Available for the first time in the home entertainment marketplace, this long-awaited DVD debut of the film ELVIS is priced to own at $19.97.

Directed by John Carpenter, the biopic of Elvis Presley stars Kurt Russell and features the voice of ’70s country music hitmaker Ronnie McDowell re-creating Presley’s signature vocals. Tracing Presley’s life from his impoverished childhood to his meteoric rise to stardom to his triumphant return to Las Vegas, this film boasts an all-star ensemble including Academy Award® winner Shelley Winters (A Place In The Sun) as Elvis’ mother Gladys; Season Hubley (All My Children) as his wife Priscilla; Kurt Russell’s real-life father Bing Russell (The Magnificent Seven) as Elvis’s father Vernon Presley; Pat Hingle (Batman) as Colonel Tom Parker; Robert Gray (Murder She Wrote) as Red West; Golden Globe nominee Joe Mantegna (Searching for Bobby Fischer) as Memphis mafia member Joe Esposito; and Golden Globe nominee Ed Begley Jr. (St. Elsewhere) as D.J. Fontana.

Rhino and Bright Midnight Archives unleash four inspired performances from The Doors’ final tour with Live In New York. The latest addition to the band’s acclaimed series of archival concert releases, this six-disc collection contains all four of The Doors’ performances – in their entirety – recorded in 1970 at the Felt Forum in New York City.

The collection will be available November 10 at all retail outlets, including www.thedoors.com and www.rhino.com, for suggested list price of $89.98 for the physical boxed set. A digital version featuring select highlights from all four Felt Forum shows will also be available at all digital retail outlets for $9.99. An exclusive stream of “Break On Through (To The Other Side)” from the second show on January 17, 1970 will premiere at spinner.com beginning this Thursday, August 27.

Recorded January 17 and 18, 1970 – just a few weeks before the release of Morrison Hotel – these concerts find Jim Morrison, John Densmore, Robby Krieger, and Ray Manzarek locked in tight as they deliver smoking takes on soon-to-be-classics from their forthcoming album, including “Roadhouse Blues,” “Peace Frog,” “Ship Of Fools,” and “Maggie M’Gill.” The shows also feature a number of driving blues covers, such as Bo Diddley’s “Who Do You Love,” Howlin’ Wolf’s “Little Red Rooster,” and John Lee Hooker’s “Crawling King Snake.” “Those were the bluesy songs we always used to do,” Krieger says. “We probably hadn’t done them in years, but we resurrected them for these shows.”

The year prior to these shows, The Doors became one of the first rock bands to play New York City’s Madison Square Garden. When they returned in 1970, Densmore says they chose to play the Felt Forum, a smaller venue at the Garden. “It was more intimate, and you could feel the audience more,” he says. “There was more interaction, and the acoustics were much better, because it was designed for music.”

Manzarek hails these shows as a return to the group’s early days, when they used to play a small Los Angeles club called the London Fog. “I mean, talk about going back to basics. We used to do four sets a night at the London Fog, and we only had a small block of songs written up to that time. So we would do other people’s material. And in New York, it was like the same thing. We’ve got four shows to play here, two sets tonight, two sets tomorrow night. Let’s play whatever we want! Let’s just go!”

And go they did. Along with a mix of then-unheard new songs and old covers, the band also tapped into its 1967, self-titled debut, peppering the set lists with signature songs such as “Break On Through (To The Other Side),” “Soul Kitchen,” “The End,” and “Light My Fire,” The Doors’ first #1 hit.

For the final show of the Felt Forum stand, the band was joined onstage by two guests – The Lovin’ Spoonful’s John Sebastian (who played harmonica on the studio version of “Roadhouse Blues”) and drummer Dallas Taylor, who’d played on Crosby, Stills & Nash’s debut. Sebastian sat in for “Rock Me” and was joined by Taylor for “Going To N.Y. Blues” and “Maggie M’Gill.”

Fans will be blown away by the crisp sound found on LIVE IN NEW YORK. All four shows were mixed and mastered by the band’s longtime engineer, Bruce Botnick, who recorded a number of shows from The Doors’ 1970 tour on multi-track tape for the Absolutely Live album. While most of the music contained on LIVE IN NEW YORK is unreleased, a few songs (and portions of songs) surfaced in 1970 on Absolutely Live and in 1997 on The Doors Box Set.

Sadly, these shows represent The Doors’ final New York City performances with Morrison, who passed away July 3, 1971.

Rhino released 180-gram vinyl versions of all six Doors studio albums on September 15. Previously available only in 2007′s The Doors Vinyl Box, original stereo mixes of The Doors, Strange Days, Waiting For The Sun, The Soft Parade, Morrison Hotel, and L.A. Woman will now be available individually at all vinyl retail outlets for a suggested list price of $24.98 each.

Four CD Set Featuring 100 Songs & 80 Page Booklet Available Everywhere On Tuesday, December 8

Legacy Recordings is proud to announce the release of Elvis 75 – Good Rockin’ Tonight, the ultimate career-spanning collection of seminal recordings by Elvis Presley, in commemoration of the King of Rock & Roll’s 75th birthday (January 8, 2010). Elvis 75 – Good Rockin’ Tonight — a four CD, 100 song collection — will be available everywhere on Tuesday, December 8.

The first major Elvis Presley retrospective to cover the full spectrum of the artist’s world-changing career, Elvis 75 – Good Rockin’ Tonight runs from “My Happiness,” the acetate Elvis himself paid nearly four dollars to record at the Memphis Recording Service on July 18, 1953, a year before signing with Sun Records, to “A Little Less Conversation (JXL Radio Remix Edit),” a posthumous #1 hit for Elvis in the UK, Australia and more than 20 other countries in 2002.

Offering fans an unprecedented range of essential material, Elvis 75 – Good Rockin’ Tonight provides a generous selection of the electrifying earth-shattering primal rock & roll of young Elvis; the swinging good vibes of Elvis’s soundtrack recordings; the heartfelt humility of his gospel performances and the intimacy of his ballads; the pure pop power and show biz magic of Elvis in Vegas; and a record-setting number of #1 and Top 10 international smashes.

The lavish Elvis 75 – Good Rockin’ Tonight box set includes an 80-page booklet featuring many rare photographs and a new essay by musical and cultural critic Billy Altman (Rolling Stone, The New Yorker).

A single disc edition of Elvis 75 – Good Rockin’ Tonight, featuring key tracks culled from the four-disc set, will be released on January 5, 2010 (the week of Elvis’ birthday: January 8).

Legacy’s release of Elvis 75 – Good Rockin’ Tonight kicks off a year-long celebration of the life and music of Elvis Presley, the world’s first rock & roll star.

Love You Live – Still Life – Flashpoint – Stripped – Live Licks The live adventures of the Rolling Stones

Universal Music Group is pleased to announce the reissue of five Rolling Stones live albums on November 10, 2009 in the US. Recorded between 1975 and 2002, Love You Live, Still Life, Flashpoint, the much-loved Stripped and Live Licks, showcase the world’s greatest rock ‘n’ roll band in its natural habitat–on stage. Taped in front of rapturous audiences in stadiums and arenas, and also documenting the more informal theatre and club shows beloved of their diehard fans, these albums feature high-octane renditions of the group’s biggest hits – “Jumpin’ Jack Flash,” “Brown Sugar,” “Tumbling Dice,” “Miss You,” “Start Me Up” – as well as great covers of material originally recorded by Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, Eddie Cochran, the Miracles, the Temptations, Bob Dylan and B.B. King.

Continuing UMG’s comprehensive release program which has already seen reissues of the group’s post-1971 studio albums, as well as the reappearance of the Jump Back compilation, these five albums bring the story of the Stones as a peerless live attraction up to date, and will be available in stores and digitally. The reissue of these five Rolling Stones live albums will be launched in conjunction with the digitally remastered release of Live at the Max celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Rolling Stones’ Steel Wheels tour.

Originally issued as a double-vinyl album in October 1977, Love You Live captures the band at a time when their Canadian escapades were making headlines around the world. Released a year after their triumphant appearance at the Knebworth Fair, it made the Top 5 on both sides of the Atlantic. The album includes the acknowledged classics “Honky Tonk Women,” “Happy” and “You Can’t Always Get What You Want,” and the medley “If You Can’t Rock Me/Get Off Of My Cloud” taped during the band’s record-breaking run at London’s Earls Court in May 1976. Going back to their rhythm ‘n’ blues roots as if they were at the Crawdaddy Club or Eel Pie Island in the early sixties, they revived “Mannish Boy,” a song most commonly associated with the father of Chicago blues, Muddy Waters, the Willie Dixon composition “Little Red Rooster,” made famous by Howlin’ Wolf and a chart-topper for the Stones in 1964, and two more Chess label favorites–Bo Diddley’s “Crackin’ Up” and Chuck Berry’s “Around And Around.”

Still Life (American Concert 1981), the album’s full title, was released in the summer of 1982, just as the group was headlining stadiums across the world, and also made the Top 5 on both sides of the Atlantic. Arguably the Stones’ most commercially successful live recording to date, it spawned two hit singles, their infectious take on the Miracles’ “Going To A Go-Go,” and their revival of Jerry Ragovoy’s “Time Is On My Side,” popularized by Irma Thomas and first recorded by the group in 1964. It also includes a swaggering cover of Eddie Cochran’s “Twenty Flight Rock” as well as romps through the Stones’ sixties classics “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction,” “Under My Thumb” and “Let’s Spend The Night Together.”

First issued in April 1991, Flashpoint is a Stones live album with a difference, since it boasts two studio cuts exclusive to this release, the politically charged “Highwire,” a comment on the Gulf War reminiscent of the group’s epochal “Street Fighting Man,” and the louche “Sex Drive.” The album featured outstanding versions of “Ruby Tuesday” and “Paint It, Black” alongside the rockers “Sad Sad Sad” and “Rock And A Hard Place” from the Steel Wheels album, as well as the rarely played “Factory Girl,” from the seminal Beggars Banquet, while guitar hero Eric Clapton guested on “Little Red Rooster.”

Having pioneered the concept of alternating big shows and back-to-basics gigs, the Stones put yet another spin on the live album with Stripped in November 1995, and were duly rewarded with another transatlantic Top Ten entry. During the Voodoo Lounge tour, their first with bassist Darryl Jones, the greatest rock ‘n’ roll band in the world simply kicked back in Lisbon and Tokyo studios and revisited Buddy Holly’s “Not Fade Away” and “Little Baby,” the Willie Dixon composition first recorded by Howlin’ Wolf. They also cherry-picked highlights – “Shine A Light,” “Angie” – from intimate shows at legendary venues like the Paradiso in Amsterdam or the Olympia in Paris. This low-key approach afforded the group the opportunity to explore its acoustic, country-flavored repertoire, “Wild Horses,” “Dead Flowers” and “Sweet Virginia” in particular, though their inspired reworking of Bob Dylan’s “Like A Rolling Stone,” from their memorable gig at London’s Brixton Academy, remains the album’s undisputed highlight.

Documenting the lengthy 2002-2003 tour in support of the career retrospective 40 Licks, Live Licks is another great addition to the Stones’ catalog of concert recordings, and put in a strong chart performance on its release in November 2004. The shows mixed best-loved songs with unexpected gems from the band’s huge back catalogue, and the two CDs mirror that approach. The first one comprises favorites such as “It’s Only Rock ‘n’ Roll (But I Like It)” and “Gimme Shelter” while the second one relies on rarely played deep cuts like “Monkey Man,” “Can’t You Hear Me Knocking,” “Rocks Off,” “Beast Of Burden,” “When The Whip Comes Down,” “Neighbours” and “Worried About You” from the chart-topping albums Let It Bleed, Sticky Fingers, Exile On Main Street, Some Girls and Tattoo You.

These albums all retain the original track listings and sleeve design.

The Shine A Light soundtrack is still available from Universal. Released in 2008, this live double album was recorded during two memorable nights at New York’s Beacon Theatre in 2006 and featured in the ultimate Rolling Stones concert film SHINE A LIGHT from Oscar-winning director Martin Scorsese.

Fresh off his stint as conductor and bandleader for the critically praised 61st Primetime Emmys live primetime telecast on CBS, Toto founding member David Paich, along with bandmates Steve Lukather and Steve Porcaro, will be inducted into the Musicians’ Hall of Fame in Nashville on Oct. 12.

The group is being honored by fellow Nashville musicians for the session work they did in the late ’70s and early ’80s, including appearances on albums by Steely Dan, Boz Scaggs and Seals & Crofts, to name just a few.

Said Paich: “This is an incredible honor for us as musicians, mainly because there are a lot of legendary players already represented in there. This is an award from musicians and producers to musicians and producers, and that means a great deal to us.”

The group will be inducted by Rascal Flatts, who are huge fans of the band. Steve Lukather became friends with the members of the group when they invited him on-stage to play “Rosanna” with them at one of their concerts.

“That gave us the idea to ask Rascal Flatts to induct us,” says David.

Toto members Paich, Lukather and Porcaro will join Rascal Flatts on-stage with original bassist David Hungate for a four-song set that is currently being decided, but could include such chestnuts as “Hold the Line,” “I’ll Be Over You,” “Africa” and “Rosanna.”

“They represent the new Nashville,” says Paich. “We’re big fans of theirs, too. When they asked us to perform a couple of numbers down there, we decided to invite Rascal Flatts to join us in celebrating the honor.”

The Film Will Also Participate in The Mirage’s 20th Anniversary Bash, Slash & Friends, on Friday, Oct. 2

ROCK PROPHECIES, presented by the Samsung Memoir(TM), is the feature-length chronicle of conflicted photographer Robert M. Knight, on a quest to find both himself and the world’s next great guitar player. The film will have a FREE screening at the Terry Fator Theatre at The Mirage (3400 Las Vegas Blvd S, Las Vegas, NV 89109) on Saturday, October 3rd. Doors open at 1pm and the Screening starts at 2pm, followed by a Q+A with Robert Knight and director John Chester. Tickets are available on a first come, first serve basis at The Mirage Box Office.

Robert Knight is one of the most prolific rock photographers in history. ROCK PROPHECIES explores his amazing career and follows him on his quest to help the bands of today become the Rock legends of tomorrow, whether promoting Northern Irish band The Answer before anybody has heard of them, or convincing Aussie band Sick Puppies to sell everything and move to the United States. When Robert stumbles upon Tyler Bryant – a 16-year old guitar phenom from Texas – he’s convinced he may have found the next Stevie Ray Vaughan. Robert risks his reputation and career and takes a chance on Tyler. The two then set off on an unbelievable journey to take their own shot at making history.

ROCK PROPHECIES has been drawing major awards since making its festival debut in March at the 2009 AFI Dallas Film Festival where it won the Audience Award for Best Feature Documentary and Dallas’ WFAA-TV film critic Gary Cogill called it “a remarkable film.” It also took home the Best Doc Audience Award at the 2009 Nashville Film Festival. In June, the film was honored with the prestigious Audience Award for Documentary Vision from the 2009 Maui Film Festival. IndieWIRE’s Harriette Yahr, reporting from Maui, said, “This doc has all the elements of great filmmaking: a compelling subject, a terrifically-crafted story, a superlative look, a killer soundtrack, and loads of heart.” The film also had the recent honor of participating in IDA’s 13th Annual DocuWeeks in LA and NYC which qualifies documentary films for Oscar consideration.

Despite boasting footage of some of the best guitarists in the business, ROCK PROPHECIES is not a concert film. “It’s a true story about having a dream, and how to fulfill that dream,” Knight says. “For that matter, it’s the story of fulfilling other peoples’ dreams, too.” While building relationships with established guitar royalty, Knight has always managed to keep his finger on the cultural pulse, leaping at the opportunity to photograph and promote emerging talent such as blues-rock star Joe Bonamassa, and rising bands Sick Puppies, The Answer and Panic At The Disco.

A film by John Chester and produced by Tim Kaiser, ROCK PROPHECIES was shot in multiple locations across the U.S. and England and features interviews and performances from Jeff Beck, ZZ Top, Carlos Santana, Slash, Rick Nielsen of Cheap Trick, and Steve Vai, among others. Kaiser has proclaimed Knight to be the “the Forrest Gump of Rock ‘n Roll” for his ability to capture history in the making, namely the last photo ever taken of Stevie Ray Vaughan and some of the earliest of Hendrix and Led Zeppelin. And in the words of Chester, Knight’s “ability to zero in on the legends of tomorrow is more than a little eerie. I wouldn’t have believed it if I hadn’t filmed it myself.”

ROCK PROPHECIES will also introduce the world to another way to capture historic Rock moments with the Samsung Memoir(TM) – a full touch-screen mobile phone designed to look and feel like a point-and-shoot digital camera. The Memoir, available exclusively from T-Mobile, has a built-in 8-megapixel camera and premium multimedia features, placing it among the highest quality imaging phones available in the U.S. The Memoir’s ability to capture and share quality photographs, and Robert Knight’s talent of capturing historical rock n’ roll moments make the tie-in with the film a natural fit.

AIRING FOR THE FIRST TIME ON PBS, “LIVE BY REQUEST” DEBUTS NOVEMBER 7, 2009 AT 9PM ET ON PBS STATIONS NATIONWIDE

Grammy-winning rock legend John Fogerty will star on the Emmy Award-winning live music series, LIVE BY REQUEST, coming to television this fall as a special presentation on PBS. Fogerty will perform music requested by the show’s viewers. The show is produced by Media Push Entertainment in association with PBS. LIVE BY REQUEST will air live Saturday, November 7, 2009, 9:00-11:00 p.m. ET on PBS as a special fundraising program for PBS member stations.

For more than four decades, John Fogerty has been an American treasure: one of the most revered and influential artists to emerge in the 60s, and still a vital part of the musical landscape. As lead singer, guitarist and songwriter of Creedence Clearwater Revival and as a Grammy-winning, chart-topping solo artist, Fogerty’s sound has encompassed everything from blues to country and southern swamp rock and roll. Known as one of the greatest songwriters, singers and guitarists of all time, Fogerty was inducted in to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993. With the recent release of The Blue Ridge Rangers Rides Again (Fortunate Son/Verve Forecast), Fogerty joyfully resurrects his mythical group. The New York Times recently noted in their review of Fogerty’s free concert in New York City, “He still has the biting yowl and near yodel of his Creedence days in his voice, and his guitar parts are pure and chiseled: riffs, strums and a little chicken-plucking lead.”

LIVE BY REQUEST is a live superstar concert event that redefines the music television experience and is controlled by fan interaction. It is the only television program where viewers actually create the artist’s set list and have the chance to personally talk to their music idol. With the premiere PBS special, LIVE BY REQUEST will fully engage viewers across multiple media platforms for the first time via live interactive video requests, call-in requests and text, email and social network requests. LIVE BY REQUEST creates a unique connection between artists and fans.

“LIVE BY REQUEST offers a unique way for viewers and performers to interact, and we’re excited to engage our audience in new and different ways,” said John F. Wilson, PBS Chief TV Programming Executive. “PBS is very active in all digital media, so we see this as a natural extension of what we do everyday in different forums.”

LIVE BY REQUEST achieved critical and commercial success, airing from 1996-2004, while becoming one of the longest running live music series in broadcast history. During its eight-year run, LIVE BY REQUEST featured top musical guests in live performance representing a wide variety of musical genres, including Tony Bennett, Elton John, John Mellencamp, David Bowie, Gloria Estefan and Neil Diamond, among others. Tony Bennett, who appeared in the Emmy Award-winning series’ premiere episode, is credited for the show’s creative concept.

Danny Bennett, Executive Producer of both the original series and this PBS special event commented, “LIVE BY REQUEST is music television where anything can happen. The program presents music the way it should be – live and spontaneous with the fans participating alongside the artist. We are thrilled to have consummate performer and songwriter John Fogerty as our featured artist as this unique show returns to television.”

Two special concerts highlight the Beatles’ legacies on Monday, September 7. “The Concert for Bangladesh Revisited,” airs at 8PM* and follows the 1971 landmark benefit concert that brought together an extraordinary ensemble of major artists collaborating to raise money for UNICEF to help the people of Bangladesh after the Bhloa Cyclone and Liberation War ravished the country. George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, and more held the sold out concert on August 1, 1971 at Madison Square Garden.
