A digital download version of the single will be available the week commencing November 14.

“No Spare Parts” is one of twelve bonus tracks that have been unearthed for inclusion on the forthcoming deluxe and super deluxe reissue of The Rolling Stones’ Some Girls – widely regarded as one of the band’s greatest albums. Some Girls will be released on November 21.

“No Spare Parts” captures the daring and diverse spirit of the album’s legendary sessions.  Recorded in Paris in 1978, the song tells the story of a trip from Los Angeles to San Antonio, Texas featuring Mick Jagger on electric piano, Keith Richards on acoustic piano, Ronnie Wood on pedal steel guitar, Charlie Watts on drums and Bill Wyman on bass. With a country guitar twang, subtle groove, and soulful storytelling, it’s a powerful and poignant acoustic tune from The Rolling Stones, and an essential addition to any fan’s catalogue.

The limited edition 7″ version of the single will also include Some Girls album track “Before They Make Me Run” on the B-side.

Other never-heard-before tracks featured on the Some Girls reissue will include “We Had It All”, “I Love You Too Much” and “Don’t Be A Stranger”.

It was in March 1971 that bassist John Deacon joined May and Taylor’s buzzed-about London group, which had changed its name from Smile to Queen nine months earlier, following the addition of multitalented singer/pianist Freddie Mercury, thus completing the classic lineup. The four simpatico musicians proceeded to take the world by storm. The band has released a total of 18 chart-topping albums and 18 #1 singles, while selling more than 300 million albums worldwide, making them one of the biggest rock acts of all time. They’ve received seven Ivor Novello awards in the U.K., were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001, the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2003, the UK Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004, and even received their own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, in October 2002.

As live artists, Queen literally conquered the world. Acknowledged as one of the greatest stadium bands of all time, Queen performed over 700 concerts, reaching into every corner of the world. They achieved rock history by being the first band to open up South America and the Eastern Bloc, with world record-breaking concerts in Argentina, Brazil and Hungary.

This is a timeless band whose music retains such immediacy and undiminished power that new fans continue to discover and embrace it, along the way inspiring a host of diverse artists from Lady Gaga (who took her name from Queen’s “Radio Ga Ga”), and Katy Perry, through to the Foo Fighters. It’s worth noting that Queen’s videos have collectively generated well north of 300 million views online—a remarkable figure that figures to expand exponentially with the launch of a dedicated Vevo channel this spring, in yet another iteration of the anniversary rollout.

As the centerpiece in the 40th anniversary celebration, Queen‘s entire 15-album studio catalog is being reissued in a series of deluxe editions. Every note is being tweaked, every piece of artwork is being cleaned, freshened up and resourced, wherever necessary, with the legendary Bob Ludwig doing the remastering, working from the original source material. The albums will be released in three waves, staggered over the next year, with the first wave—comprising the first five LPs—coming this spring.

Each studio album will be released in a new two-CD edition, the first containing the updated, remastered original LP, the second disc packed with rarities—and we don’t use the term lightly. Some of these gems have never before seen the light of day, even in crappy bootleg form. To cite a particularly fascinating example, five first-album demos recorded at London’s De Lane Lea Studios in December 1971 were pulled from the only existing copy on the planet—an acetate from May’s personal archives. Not even his bandmates had a copy.

“A huge amount of work has already been put in behind the scenes to unleash a completely newly mastered set of the original Queen LPs and CDs,” May noted. “I know our fans will appreciate the attention to detail, bringing the early albums closer than ever to the magic of the vinyl originals, but with the benefit of up-to-the-minute quality technology.”

In other anniversary activity, the gallery exhibition “Stormtroopers in Stilettos” opens in London on Feb. 25, with plans in place to tour the exhibit around the world. According to May, this unprecedented event “will highlight in some innovative ways the growth of the ‘Early Queen.’” On April 12, Hollywood will reissue Queen’s debut single, “Keep Yourself Alive” b/w “Son and Daughter,” on seven-inch vinyl in a limited edition coinciding with Record Store Day. And on April 19, the label will issue the band’s Greatest Hits II for the first time in North America. This classic collection includes the rock standards “Under Pressure” and “Radio Ga Ga,” plus  many other classics from the second half of Queen’s run, including the worldwide smashes “I Want It All” & “Innuendo.” Additionally, the “Queen on Vinyl” reissue program will be completed this year with the release of the final five studio albums.

In the UK, Queen’s Greatest Hits 1 holds the record of being the biggest selling album of all time ahead of albums by The Beatles, Oasis, Dire Straits, and Abba.

This is just the beginning of what promises to be a treasure trove of must-have pieces for Queen fans. More will be revealed in the coming months, so stay tuned.

After their on disc appearance with “Wish” in Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock , industrial rock band Nine Inch Nails, are adding their unique sound to the Guitar Hero music library this month with the inclusion of three songs in the January Mega Pack.  The pack contains “Head Like A Hole,” the band’s first major single off their debut album, Pretty Hate Machine, “The Hand That Feeds,” the lead single off their 2005 album With Teeth and “Closer,” the second single from their 1994 album, The Downward Spiral.

Harmonix and MTV Games announced that Johnny Cash will make his Rock Band debut next week with an eight pack of his greatest hits beginning Jan. 4 in the Rock Band 3 Music Store of downloadable content for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3  and Wii.  Nine songs featured previously in Rock Band games will also be available for free for the Xbox and PlayStation 3.

Rock Band provides the deepest and best selection of artists, songs and albums through the Rock Band music platform, which features more than 800 artists and more than 2,000 tracks via disc and download purchase (complete list of tracks at www.rockband.com/songs). Rock Band’s gigantic music library dwarfs that of any other rhythm video game on the market. To date, more than 75 million songs have been sold through the Rock Band Music Store since its launch Nov. 20, 2007.

Hosted by VH1 Classic Rock Night radio show host, Eddie Webb, this documentary shows unique and never-before-seen rehearsal footage depicts the band preparing for their appearance at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 1972. The documentary also features The Rolling Stones performing “Tumbling Dice”, “Loving Cup”, “Shake Your Hips” and a 3 minute long blues jam.

Friday, November 26th:

Settle in for a treat as VH1, VH1 Classic, and Palladia simulcast the world television premiere of the “VH1 Rock Doc: Shine A Light” at 9PM*. The 2008 documentary directed by Martin Scorsese, documents The Rolling Stones’ 2006 Beacon Theater performance in New York City on their “A Bigger Bang Tour.” The documentary includes archive footage from the band’s career and also shows Jack White, Buddy Guy and Christina Aguilera performing with The Rolling Stones.

Newly-Discovered Live Doors Set Releases Nov. 22 on Rhino Records/Bright Midnight Archives

Harmonix and MTV Games announced that the legendary music of The Doors will be the first available for download in Rock Band 3 when the game launches Oct. 26 in North America and Oct. 29 in the rest of the world for the Xbox 360 PlayStation 3 , Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS, and MTV Games and Harmonix are giving away three of The Doors’ songs for one week to any fan that purchases Rock Band 3 and plays online to celebrate the release of the game.

Beginning Nov. 2, The Doors’ Rock Band downloads will be available for purchase only as individual songs or in a bundle of all 12 songs.

As noted above, on Nov. 22, The Doors – Live In Vancouver, a two-disc set of previously unreleased live recordings from June 6, 1970, at the Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver, British Columbia, will be released by Rhino and Bright Midnight Archives. The set features a guest performance by Albert King on four songs and includes “When The Music’s Over,” “Five To One,” an extended version of “Light My Fire” and much more from this historic performance. It’s official and ahead of schedule!  Harmonix, the world’s premier music video game developer, and MTV Games,a part of Viacom’s MTV Networks, announced that next week’s downloadable content release of tracks from The Jimi Hendrix Experience’s seminal album, Are You Experienced, will push the Rock Band platform past the 2,000-song milestone, with the classic song “Are You Experienced?” coming in at No. 2,000.  More than 2,000 tracks will be available for play in Rock Band 3 when it is released Oct. 26 in North America and Oct. 29 in the rest of the world for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii and Nintendo DS.

A mixture of live and studio tracks from the debut album from The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Are You Experienced, will be available as a special Rock Band edition album download Tuesday, Oct. 12 through the Rock Band Music Store of downloadable content for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 system and Wii.

When Rock Band 3 launches, fans will have access to a music library of more than 2,000 songs*, including on-disc content, exported on-disc tracks from Rock Band, Rock Band™ 2, LEGO® Rock Band™, Green Day: Rock Band™,  AC/DC Live: Rock Band™ Track Pack and a variety of other track packs that employ the disc export technology Harmonix pioneered.

All previously purchased downloadable content will automatically move forward into the Rock Band 3 Music Library when players insert the disc into their console. Rock Band DLC additions for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 system and Wii
It’s already been announced that the Anthrax fan-favorite, “Caught in a Mosh” will be featured on the Rock Band 3 soundtrack, but next week, fans can get an early taste of Anthrax with a five-pack of the band’s songs, spanning their career. Anthrax, one of the most popular thrash metal bands of the 1980s, will make their Rock Band debut next week with “Among the Living” and “Indians,” both from the band’s 1987 breakthrough Gold-certified album, Among the Living; as well as “I’m the Man” from the EP of the same name, and live versions of “Madhouse (Live)” and “Metal Thrashing Mad (Live).” Anthrax is touring the United States this fall. The Doobie Brothers will make their Rock Band debut next week as well. Fans can play their song, “China Grove,” on the Rock Band 3 disc but will get an early taste of the band with two tracks next week. “Listen to the Music,” from the band’s second album, Toulouse Street, as well as “Long Train Runnin’” from the band’s two-time Platinum third album, The Captain and Me, will be both available in the Rock Band Music Store next week. The Doobie Brothers will release their new album, World Gone Crazy, the same date that these songs are available in Rock Band. New Jersey-formed American rockers My Chemical Romance will make their Rock Band debut next week as well with “I’m Not Okay (I Promise)” from the band’s second album, Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge, and the band’s first UK No. 1 single, “Welcome to the Black Parade” from the band’s third album, The Black Parade.

And to keep the debut theme going, Atreyu will make their Rock Band debut next week as well with “Coffin Nails,” from the American metalcore band’s fifth album, Congregation of the Damned. We’re also adding more 30 Seconds to Mars, with “Closer to the Edge” and Buckcherry, with “Out of Line.”
