Ezra Furman Announces New Album “Goodbye Small Head” and North American Tour
Ezra Furman recently revealed the details of her upcoming 10th studio album titled ‘Goodbye Small Head,’ set to be released on May 16 through Bella Union. Alongside this exciting announcement, the singer-songwriter also dropped the album’s lead single, “Grand Mal,” and confirmed a North American tour that includes stops in Vancouver, Montreal, and Toronto later in the year.
The album title is a nod to Sleater-Kinney’s song “Get Up” from 1999, and serves as the follow-up to Furman’s 2022 release, ‘All of Us Flames.’ Recorded in Chicago with producer Brian Deck, Furman described the album as, “an orchestral emo prog-rock record sprinkled with samples,” in the press notes. She humorously added, “Thank goodness I’m not a music journalist!”
The album opens with the lushly orchestrated track, “Grand Mal,” which is named after an outdated term for a major seizure. Accompanying the song is a captivating video directed by Eleanor Petry. The tracklist for ‘Goodbye Small Head’ includes a mix of powerful titles such as “Sudden Storm,” “Power of the Moon,” “Veil Song,” and “I Need the Angel,” among others.
To support the album, Furman will kick off her North American tour in July, with Canadian dates scheduled for August and October. Fans in Vancouver can catch her at the Hollywood Theatre on August 12, while Montreal’s Fairmount Theatre will host her on October 20, and Toronto’s Axis Club on October 21. The tour will conclude in New York on October 29, with tickets available for purchase starting February 14 at 10 a.m. local time.
Excited fans can already pre-order ‘Goodbye Small Head’ and mark their calendars for the tour dates featuring Ezra Furman. Make sure not to miss this opportunity to experience her eclectic mix of sounds and captivating performances live on stage.
