Brooklyn-based band Bedridden recently released their song “Chainsaw” along with an official music video that showcases the frustrations and annoyances faced by roommates. The video was shot in Phoenicia, NY, during the artwork creation process for their forthcoming debut album and was edited by Victoria Winter. The track is the second single from their album “Moths Strapped To Eachother’s Backs,” set to drop on April 11, 2025, through the Philadelphia-based label Julia’s War Recordings.

The lead vocalist and guitarist of Bedridden, Jack Riley, shared the inspiration behind “Chainsaw,” stating that the lyrics capture a tumultuous time when he moved in with his partner and her friend, sparking various manic incidents. One such incident involved the duo’s search for a new lamp that bothered Riley. The music video portrays his attempt to channel his anger by destroying lamps, symbolizing his frustrations and trying to break free from negative emotions.

Recorded at Studio G and produced by Aron Kobayashi Ritch, the ten-song debut album offers a raw, gritty insight into the complexities of adult life. The lead single “Etch,” released last month ahead of the album, delves into themes of anger, violence, and the need for release. The music video features guitar riffs intertwining like missed punches, complemented by Jack Riley’s vocals, which hit hard, reminiscent of a sucker punch.

Bedridden’s sound is a fusion of indie rock with powerful instrumentation and emotionally charged lyrics. Their upcoming album is a testament to their artistry, capturing the essence of personal struggles and emotional turmoil. The band’s music transcends genres, offering listeners a cathartic experience through their aggressive yet melodic tunes.

With a dynamic and unique approach to songwriting, Bedridden’s music resonates with audiences who appreciate authenticity and raw emotion in their music. “Chainsaw” and their forthcoming album promise to deliver a searing portrayal of inner conflicts, external pressures, and the unyielding complexities of human relationships. Bedridden’s distinctive sound and poignant storytelling set them apart in the indie music scene, marking them as a band to watch out for in the future.
