Linkin Park’s Phoenix discusses new music: ‘I Don’t Want To Sit And Wait’
Last month, Linkin Park dropped a fresh tune named “Up From The Bottom,” set to dazzle fans as part of the deluxe version of their album, From Zero, graced with two other hidden gems: “Let You Fade” and “Unshatter.” In an illuminating chat on the latest episode of iHeartRadio’s It’s Mike Jones broadcast, the band’s bassist Phoenix shared thoughts on the band’s musical trajectory.
“During the music-making process, we always find ourselves with surplus material that doesn’t quite make the cut, be it due to time constraints or failure to align with our vision,” Phoenix reflected on the new tracks. “However, with the Deluxe edition, both ‘Let You Fade’ and ‘Unshatter’ stood out as promising tunes, deserving of a bit more attention…these two pieces were held in high regard during the various stages of crafting From Zero.”
“From Zero is already a concise, compact album,” observed Phoenix. “Hence, it made perfect sense to introduce more fresh, vibrant content, especially since time is of the essence. I don’t want to delay releasing new music as I’m not getting any younger. Let’s offer our fans something new and exciting and allow them to interpret and enjoy it as they see fit. Waiting around isn’t in my playbook.”
While it remains uncertain if Linkin Park has initiated work on a sequel to 2024’s From Zero, their eagerness to unveil new tunes seems palpable. The deluxe iteration of From Zero is primed for launch on May 16. They’re set to hit the road for a colossal North American tour commencing on April 26 in Austin, Texas.
