The Corrs debut video for their song “Ellis Island”
Irish music sensation, The Corrs, recently unveiled a captivating new video for their song ‘Ellis Island’ performed live at the prestigious Teenage Cancer Trust at the Royal Albert Hall 2025. The track draws its name from the historic island located in New York Harbour, once renowned as the primary immigration processing center in the United States. ‘Ellis Island’ serves as a powerful ode to the intricate theme of migration, commemorating the quest for solace and the countries that have offered shelter and prospects for a brighter future. Embedded within the song are the poignant struggles associated with relocating to a new land, coupled with the heart-wrenching experience of bidding farewell to one’s homeland.
Originally featured on The Corrs’ 2015 album ‘White Light,’ ‘Ellis Island’ comes as a beacon of the band’s musical prowess. With a staggering record of over 40 million records sold, the quartet comprising Andrea, Sharon, Caroline, and Jim Corr garnered a wider fan base during their Talk on Corners tour in 2024. Embarking on a new journey this year, The Corrs are set to delight audiences across various regions including Ireland, England, Sweden, Germany, and Spain.
Venturing further beyond to Asia and Australia, The Corrs’ appearance at the Teenage Cancer Trust at the Royal Albert Hall marked an emotional homecoming for the band. Expressing her sentiments to the crowd, Andrea Corr nostalgically reflected on the band’s evolution, not forgetting the pivotal role the venue played in their artistic trajectory.
Addressing the audience, Andrea Corr reminisced, “This place holds immense sentimental value for us. It marks a monumental turning point in our career. Back then, our music was often classified within the folk genre in record archives, unsure of where to position us due to our unique blend of traditional Irish elements with pop rock, or what we humorously refer to as ‘prock,’ a la ‘Spinal Tap.’ The tide shifted when we embraced our Irish heritage, especially during St. Patrick’s Day celebrations that aired on the BBC, altering our course. This venue remains a place of significance for us.”
Moreover, in an altruistic nod, Andrea highlighted the charitable organization, Teenage Cancer Trust, for its exceptional efforts in supporting vulnerable teenagers. The 2025 edition of the Teenage Cancer Trust concert series, spanning from March 24-30, featured stellar performances by renowned artists such as The Who, James Arthur, and Frank Carter. The multifaceted event also included a night of uproarious comedy hosted by Micky Flanagan, along with a curated segment by Erased Tapes showcasing Penguin Cafe.
Looking ahead, fans can catch The Corrs at various upcoming shows in 2025, with tickets available for purchase. The schedule includes performances at iconic venues such as the Open Air Theatre in Scarborough, Live at The Piece Hall in Halifax, the Plymouth Summer Sessions at Plymouth Hoe, and the highly-anticipated Isle of Wight Festival in Newport. Renowned for their melodic finesse and impassioned performances, The Corrs continue to captivate audiences with their timeless musical repertoire and evocative live renditions.
