I-95 Giggle Girls: What Are They Up To Now?
It was in 2007 that we decided to revamp the radio station events and bring back the fun by introducing The Giggle Girls. Kim and Kristina, the dynamic duo, were always up for any adventure and became an integral part of the I-95 Morning Show team. They brought their infectious energy to every event, making each moment unforgettable.
From the Giggle Girl Olympics to broadcasting live from the Trading Post while chilling in a hot tub, Kim and Kristina were always game for whatever crazy idea we threw at them. Even though we didn’t always plan everything to the last detail, the Giggle Girls never failed to bring the excitement and laughter to every situation.
Recently, we reached out to Kim, one half of the iconic duo, and had the chance to catch up with her on the show. It’s good to know that everyone is doing well and reminiscing about the good old days when the cameras were not operating in 4K Ultra HD, as Kim humorously pointed out.
In addition to the Giggle Girls, the I-95 tower site in Brookfield holds a special place in the station’s history. With components that create 50,000 watts, one of the strongest signals in Connecticut, the tower site is a crucial part of the station’s broadcasting capabilities. Mark Weiss, a retired broadcast engineer and drone enthusiast, shared stunning aerial photographs of the I-95 broadcast tower from a unique perspective.
Exploring the tower from the ground and delving into its history shed light on the station’s past and the efforts put into maintaining such a strong signal throughout the years. The tower site holds a certain charm, and it was a privilege to take a virtual tour of the site and learn more about its significance.
Additionally, the station’s listeners showed their patriotism in response to a study ranking Connecticut poorly in terms of patriotism. The state ranked 48th nationally, prompting a call to action from the Ethan and Lou Show listeners to display their flags proudly. Through the I-95 Rock Mobile App, listeners shared photos of their flags, showing their love for their country in a symbolic gesture of unity and pride.
The I-95 Giggle Girls may no longer be gracing events with their presence, but their legacy lives on in the memories of those who experienced their infectious energy and enthusiasm. The station’s history, from the iconic Giggle Girls to the broadcasting tower site, showcases the diverse and vibrant tapestry of experiences that have shaped I-95 over the years.
