Knoxville to Hold Public Hearing for Acquisition of Ten Lots in Veterans District
The City of Knoxville has scheduled a public hearing for the proposed sale of ten lots in the Veterans District. The city has received an offer from Origin Homes for these lots, bringing the total number of sold lots in phase one of the Veterans Park project to 30 out of 34. Origin Homes, a company based in West Des Moines, has already completed five homes in the Veterans District and is currently constructing an additional five homes. This progress is attributed to the company receiving federal housing tax credits for building in Knoxville. City Manager Heather Ussery expressed satisfaction with the development of homes on the old VA campus.
Ussery mentioned, “We have received an offer for 10 of the 14 lots remaining in phase one of the Veterans District. This quick progression towards nearly selling out the lots indicates a high demand that we anticipated. It is pleasantly surprising how swiftly the sales are occurring, and we are grateful for this momentum. We will closely monitor what phase two will entail for the Veterans District.”
A public hearing has been scheduled for May 5th at 6:15 pm to discuss and potentially approve the purchase of these ten lots.
