The LAPD recently released footage showing Jillian Lauren, a well-known author and the wife of Weezer bassist Scott Shriner, allegedly holding and firing a gun at police officers near her Los Angeles home. The incident took place two weeks ago and resulted in Lauren being shot and injured.

The footage consists of a series of bodycam videos capturing the chaotic moments leading up to the shooting. In the video, officers can be seen standing behind a fence, repeatedly instructing a woman believed to be Lauren to drop her weapon. Although she is not visible on the other side of the fence, officers continue to yell commands at her. Eventually, one of the officers identifies himself as police, while another mentions that he is with the California Highway Patrol.

Additional surveillance footage from Lauren’s home provides a different perspective of the events. It shows Lauren holding a black handgun and moving around her property, visibly searching for something. Although the video is silent, it appears to capture her racking and firing the gun before walking away. Shortly after, officers can be heard discharging multiple shots in response to the situation.

The LAPD released approximately 22 minutes of edited video footage on their YouTube channel, outlining the evidence related to the case. The incident occurred on April 8, around 3:55 p.m., while police were conducting a search for hit-and-run suspects in Lauren’s Eagle Rock neighborhood. As the investigation continues, Lauren has been taken into custody, treated for a gunshot wound to her arm, and has been charged with attempted murder.

According to LAPD Commander Alex Chogyoji, officers encountered Lauren in a rear yard with a handgun and repeatedly instructed her to drop it. Despite their commands, Lauren allegedly pointed the gun at the officers and fired, prompting them to respond with force. A 9mm Glock handgun and a spent shell casing were recovered from the scene.

The YouTube video also includes multiple 911 calls related to the incident, including one where someone inside the house with Lauren describes the situation to an operator. Although Lauren did not comment on the video, it is evident from the footage that the incident was tense and dangerous.

Despite the incident, Weezer proceeded with their Coachella performance as scheduled, with Shriner still participating in the band’s activities. Lauren, best known for her works “Some Girls: My Life in a Harem” and “Everything You Ever Wanted,” faces legal consequences as the case unfolds. The LAPD’s decision to release the footage sheds light on the events that transpired and the complex circumstances surrounding the incident involving Jillian Lauren.
