Tool has been announced as one of the featured bands at the upcoming “Back to the Beginning” concert event on July 5, where Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath will give their final performance. This news has generated excitement, especially for Maynard James Keenan, who eagerly anticipates performing at the show.

During an interview on Loudwire Nights, Keenan revealed that he first learned about the event while paying tribute to Ozzy at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony for his solo work the previous year. Discussions with Robert Trujillo and Wolfgang Van Halen about potential plans for the show led to Keenan being approached to have Tool perform at “Back to the Beginning.” Initially hesitant, the band later decided to seize the opportunity despite the usual complexities that come with making decisions within Tool.

Keenan credited his love for Black Sabbath to his aunt, who introduced him to the band, sparking a profound change in his life. He acknowledged that his interest in music was profoundly influenced by Black Sabbath’s first album, which ultimately paved the way for his own musical journey.

The final Black Sabbath show promises to be an epic event, with the original lineup of Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward reuniting to headline the concert. Scheduled in Birmingham, England, this performance marks the first time in two decades that the original Sabbath members will share the stage, making it a historic and emotional event for fans worldwide. Alongside Tool, the lineup boasts a stellar roster of metal and hard rock legends such as Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Slayer, and many more.

In addition to the impressive musical lineup, the concert will feature notable figures like Andrew Watt, Billy Corgan, Chad Smith, and David Ellefson, among others, providing additional performances. Actor Jason Momoa will serve as the event’s host, adding to the star-studded nature of the show. Tom Morello, who is both performing and serving as the show’s musical director, shared his excitement about creating what he believes will be the greatest day in heavy metal history.

The organizers of “Back to the Beginning” aimed to pay homage to Black Sabbath in a monumental way, seeking to emphasize the band’s legacy and influence on the genre. With surprises and special guests planned for the show, it promises to be an unforgettable celebration of the iconic band’s farewell performance.
