Bone Thugs-N-Harmony reunite with new music
Bone Thugs-N-Harmony have come together once again with their latest track, “Aww Shit,” marking their first complete group project since the release of “Uni5: The World’s Enemy” back in 2010. Produced by Gold Ru$h, along with Buddy Long and Nat Powers, “Aww Shit” is released under Greenback Records, established by UFC’s Conor McGregor.
Formed in the early 1990s, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony entered the music scene under the guidance of Eazy-E, bringing a fresh sound that challenged the conventions of the genre. With their debut EP “Creepin on ah Come Up” in 1994, they introduced a unique blend of haunting harmonies that set them apart from the gritty realism of the East Coast and the funk-infused rhythms of the West Coast.
Their breakthrough came with the release of “E. 1999 Eternal,” which is set to celebrate its 30th anniversary this summer. This multi-platinum album features their Grammy-winning single, “Tha Crossroads,” a track that made history by topping the Hot 100 Singles chart and staying on the Hot R&B Singles chart for a remarkable 102 weeks. The music video for “Tha Crossroads” served as a tribute to the late Eazy-E, solidifying their impact on the music industry.
“Tha Crossroads” achieved double-platinum status, holding the number one position on the Billboard Hot 100 for eight weeks and tying the Beatles’ record for the fastest-rising single on the Hot 100. At the 1996 Grammy Awards, the hit track won Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group, further cementing Bone Thugs-N-Harmony’s status as pioneers in the rap genre.
Despite the tragic loss of Eazy-E, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony continued to achieve global success, selling millions of records worldwide. Their influence on the music industry extended far beyond their sales figures, as they inspired countless artists to follow in their innovative style. In a fitting tribute to their legacy, a street in their hometown of Cleveland was renamed “Bone Thugs-N-Harmony Way” at the intersection of East 99th Street and St. Clair Avenue.
Having sold more than 15 million records, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony remain a driving force in the world of hip-hop. Fans can catch them on tour, where they will be performing alongside Master P & the No Limit Soldiers at Newark’s NJPAC on June 6th as part of a 90s Juneteenth celebration. With tour dates scheduled across various cities in the US, including Detroit, Atlanta, New York, Houston, and more, audiences can experience the dynamic energy of Bone Thugs-N-Harmony live on stage.
