Turnstile, a band that effortlessly straddles the line between being hardcore royalty and a pop culture enigma, reminiscent of a fusion between Minor Threat and The 1975, is gearing up for the release of their new album, “Never Enough,” to be released on June 6th. The band’s recent single, “Never Enough,” generated a mixed bag of reactions, yet Turnstile forges forward with the unveiling of a dual music video for “Seein’ Stars” and “Birds,” offering fans a deeper insight into what the full-length album entails with a more grounded and purposeful energy.

Directed by Brendan Yates and Pat McCrory, the video exudes authenticity and spontaneity, opting for a raw, unpolished aesthetic that captures the essence of the music. The latter segment featuring “Birds” stands out for its visual and musical allure. The track strikes the perfect balance between an airy sound and a strong bass groove from Franz Lyons, supported by Meg Mills and McCrory’s subtle guitar work that carries weight without unnecessary embellishments.

“Seein’ Stars” features additional vocals from Devonté Hynes and Hayley Williams, seamlessly blending into Turnstile’s sonic landscape. Their contributions serve as additional layers rather than focal points, expanding the band’s musical horizons in a subtle manner. The track doesn’t rely on catchy hooks but meanders to a rhythmic rhythm before tightening up when necessary.

The new material from Turnstile offers a glimpse of what to expect from “Never Enough,” their first album since the critically acclaimed “Glow On.” While “Glow On” garnered the band four Grammy nominations, it also raised the bar of expectations and criticism. “Never Enough,” a self-produced venture by Brendan Yates, recorded between L.A. and Baltimore, seems to break free from the confines of past successes and setbacks, opting to chart a unique course.

The album release on June 6 will be celebrated with a live show in Brooklyn at Under the K Bridge, featuring Teezo Touchdown, Boy Harsher, and Big Boy. This event will kick-start a European and UK tour, including stops at Primavera Sound in Barcelona and Porto, Outbreak Fest in London, Hellfest in France, Jera On Air in the Netherlands, Glastonbury, among other venues. Turnstile is scheduled to headline the Ottawa Blues Fest, perform at Aftershock in California, and III Points in Miami.

“Never Enough” is currently available for pre-order in various vinyl editions on the band’s official store, maintaining its original lineup—Brendan Yates on vocals and synth, Franz Lyons on bass, Pat McCrory and Meg Mills on guitars, and Daniel Fang on drums. With a journey spanning over fifteen years, Turnstile continues to evolve, albeit not always seamlessly, but this constant evolution is at the core of the band’s essence.
