Debby Friday announces new album ‘The Starr of the Queen of Life,’ PUP and Propagandhi also release new albums

This week marks the debut of several highly anticipated Canadian albums, featuring a range of genres and musical talent. Among the notable releases is Polaris Music Prize winner Debby Friday’s upcoming album, “The Starrr Of The Queen Of Life,” set to be released on August 1st. This album serves as a follow-up to her critically acclaimed 2023 Polaris Prize-winning album, “GOOD LUCK,” and has fans eagerly awaiting its release.

Additionally, this week sees the release of new albums from two iconic punk bands that have been instrumental in shaping the Canadian music scene over the past three decades. Propagandhi, the veteran Winnipeg-based political-punk group, returns with their latest album, “At Peace.” Meanwhile, Toronto favorites PUP are set to release their new full-length album, “Who Will Look After The Dogs?” and will kick off a hometown tour in July to support the new record. This tour will be followed by an extensive U.K. and European tour, showcasing their unique punk sound to audiences around the world.

Other Canadian artists also have new music to offer this week. Barenaked Ladies keyboardist Kevin Hearn is releasing “Portland Parish,” recorded in Jamaica. Lights, the pop-dance sensation, returns with her sixth album, “A6.” Toronto indie rock heroes Lowest Of The Low drop “Over Years and Over Night” and are currently on an Ontario tour. Reuben and The Bullhorn Singers, a new project led by Reuben Bullock of Reuben and The Dark, make their debut with “All These Roads.” Montreal DJ collective Moonshine, featuring Pierre Kwenders, presents “MS for Location, Vol. 6.” Additionally, WCMA Award-winning global artist Kelly Bado releases “Belles âmes (Good People).”

In the upcoming months, music fans can also look forward to new releases from various Canadian artists. Pop craftsman Steven Taetz will drop “Fruit” on June 13th, while Vancouver artist Yawn will release “wish I could’ve” on the same day.
