David Lee Roth returns to tour with 2 upcoming regional dates
David Lee Roth, the former frontman of Van Halen, is making a return this summer after announcing his retirement three and a half years ago. He will be embarking on a tour across the United States, including stops at two regional locations. On August 8, Roth will be performing at the Hard Rock Live at Etess Arena in Atlantic City, followed by a show on August 17 at the Wind Creek Event Center in Bethlehem. General ticket sales will commence on Friday at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster, with pre-sales leading up to the event.
In 2021, Roth declared his retirement before starting a Las Vegas residency that was cut short due to unforeseen circumstances related to COVID. Fans assumed this would be his final farewell. However, Roth surprised everyone by headlining the M3 Rock Festival in Columbia, Md., delivering a set of 16 Van Halen classics and receiving excellent reviews. The festival marked his first public performance in five years and showcased his revamped band, enhancing his energetic stage presence.
Despite previous criticism about his vocal abilities and use of backing tracks during live shows, Roth’s performance at the M3 Rock Festival impressed many. With four male backup singers adding depth to his vocals, Roth entertained the audience with hits like “Panama,” “Hot for Teacher,” and “Jump,” as well as delving into deeper tracks like “Drop Dead Legs” and “Atomic Punk.” Even at the age of 70, Roth maintained a strong stage presence, drawing accolades from fellow rock star Paul Stanley of Kiss, who praised his performance on social media.
Roth’s return to the stage coincides with Sammy Hagar’s Las Vegas residency, where Hagar pays tribute to Van Halen by performing hits from his time with the band. Meanwhile, original Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony continues to support Hagar in his band. Both Roth and Hagar are honoring the legacy of Van Halen through their live performances, keeping the band’s music alive for fans.
