Is Anyone Concerned About the Muppets Taking Over the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster?
gside them, as Disney unveils integration between the Muppets and G-Force Records!” Now, it’s safe to assume the Muppets will be part of the G-Force universe making the theming of the “Coaster” attractions consistent, but what will that actually look like?
Attractions, and lands, and parks and shows have all had their theming flipped on their respective heads before — Star Tours, Toy Story Midway Mania, and Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout at various points over the yearsd. Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout being the most recent and prominent example of G-Forcing an existing attraction into an entirely new storyline with its own theming and soundtrack. But all of those flips have ranged from “Successful at Day 1” to “Well, the fans will grow to love it.” But with the Muppets and the Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster, there is a very real chance of tangling the universal appeal of an American classic with the aggressive style of Aerosmith. It’s like coating a taco in caramel, or turning your toupee into a soup ladle, or mixing Timon and Shere Khan.
It’s a very strange example of Disney doing something that looks like a question mark and many unnamed folks both at Disney and beyond are asking if anyone sees the myriad potential problems in giving an attraction over to the Muppets that is so wildly different from previous iterations that the voices to check if they are even close to the right track to begin with.
But there’s no official proposed timeline for the transformation of the Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster into a Muppet-thrilling, but there are some folks on the Disney Beat who are asking if perhaps those in charge should take a closer look into the potential issues before rolling on down the road with the Muppet flavoured coaster.
At the end of the day, we don’t know how the marriage between the Muppets and the Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster will go until they’re joined in holy matrimony for something Mad Hatter. But with the emotional reactions to the thought of this amalgamation going on right now, perhaps someone in the know will take those concerns and act on them — considering that when Disney World fans see something strange and different coming to their beloved parkscape, they really do cry out “A GIFT!”
And if that gift is bringing the Muppets into the Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster, perhaps they can make something wonderful. Or set their hair on fire and start howling when they realize what’s just about to happen to their all-time favorite roller coaster.
