JIM ROOT: Lack of Inspiration Delays New SLIPKNOT Release

In a recent conversation with Jonathan Graham of Guitar Interactive, Slipknot guitarist Jim Root shared insights into the current status of new music and why the band is not rushing back to the studio.

When asked if the band was actively working on material to follow up their 2022 album “The End, So Far,” Root admitted, “Not diligently.” He explained that the band’s extensive touring schedule since the addition of Eloy Casagrande as the drummer has left him feeling uninspired.

Casagrande, who joined Slipknot in early 2024, has brought a new energy to the group. However, Root expressed that the constant touring has dampened his creative spark. He further elaborated that there is a lot of music written during the COVID-19 pandemic that he is not interested in exploring further. The band seems to collectively agree that they need a fresh start.

Root emphasized the importance of taking a break from touring to rejuvenate and find inspiration to create new music. He conveyed his desire to take at least a month off to relax before beginning the songwriting process. He believes that when he finds himself back in his home studio, putting together riffs, he will know it is time to start writing.

In another interview with Alternative Press, percussionist Clown mentioned that the timeline for recording new material remains uncertain. He mentioned the possibility of starting the writing process between 2025 and mid-2026, with potential studio time in late 2025. Despite no specific expectations, the band is not overlooking the importance of creating new music.

For Slipknot, a band known for its chaos, catharsis, and constant evolution, the future remains uncertain. A pause in their creative output might be just what they need at this moment. The band’s identity is deeply rooted in their ability to adapt and transform, forging a path uniquely their own.

As fans eagerly await new music from Slipknot, they can catch the band on their upcoming tour dates. From Sweden to the United States, Slipknot is set to rock stages all around the world, showcasing their electrifying live performances.

In conclusion, Slipknot is not in a rush to release new music, choosing instead to take a much-needed break from touring to focus on creativity. The band members acknowledge the need for inspiration and space to begin the writing process. With Slipknot’s legacy of pushing boundaries and defying expectations, their next chapter promises to be as dynamic and impactful as ever.
