New humanoid robot in China mimics human movements like stretching, twisting, and squatting
Shenzhen-based tech firm LimX Dynamics has recently unveiled the capabilities of its latest humanoid robot, the CL-3, in a new video. This advanced robot showcases human-like movements, demonstrating a significant improvement over its predecessors, the CL-1 and CL-2, in terms of mobility, dexterity, and lifelike motion.
The CL-3 in the video is depicted in an office environment, standing near a desk, performing a series of warm-up actions like stretching by raising its arms, moving its head, pulling its arms in, hip twists, arm swings, side bends, and arm curls. This robot, standing at 5 feet 5 inches tall, boasts between 29 and 52 degrees of freedom, indicating its highly articulated structure that enables complex movements.
One of the standout features of the CL-3 is its hollow actuator design with high-torque-density actuators, providing full-body balance and a wide range of motion. LimX Dynamics mentioned on LinkedIn that the robot now achieves intricate full-body movements in a stable and dynamic manner due to its ongoing advancements in system engineering.
Equipped with onboard sensors and AI algorithms, the CL-3 can perceive terrain in real-time, allowing it to navigate complex environments independently. Reports indicate that its advanced motion control and AI algorithms enable it to execute tasks requiring coordination and adaptability, with seamless interaction in dynamic settings. Previous videos also showcased the robot’s ability to perform advanced motions like controlled lying down, squats, waist rotation, and lifting itself from the ground.
The CL-3’s advanced features position it for a significant role across various sectors, particularly in industries like manufacturing and logistics due to its capability to navigate complex terrains and perform dynamic tasks. Additionally, its human-like movements and adaptability make it suitable for roles in customer service, assistance, as well as research and development for testing new AI and robotics technologies.
LimX Dynamics, established in 2022, describes itself as a general-purpose robotics company striving to achieve general artificial intelligence (AGI) while focusing on developing hardware and software for diverse applications in industry, homes, and other sectors. The future looks promising for the CL-3 robot as it showcases remarkable capabilities that could revolutionize various industries and sectors with its lifelike motions and advanced features.
