Local band Halcyon set to perform at Pointfest
Local Rock Band “Halcyon” Set to Perform at Pointfest On May 18, 2025, the indie rock band “Halcyon” will grace the stage at Pointfest 2025, held at the Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre in St. Louis. The band’s journey to this momentous event started humbly, playing cover sets and benefit shows. However, their fortunes changed when they participated in a battle of the bands at Club 110 in Belleville.
The pivotal moment for the band came when they had to debut original work to qualify for the competition. This marked a shift in their trajectory, as the positive response they received from the audience solidified their decision to focus on creating and performing their own music. Since then, Halcyon has built a name for themselves in the St. Louis and Metro East area, performing at venues like The Hi-Hat, Club 110, and Pop’s.
Comprising lead vocalist Jade Baker, lead guitarist Braden Christian, rhythm guitarist Alex Andersen, bassist Alise Forsyth, and drummer Bryce Erlinger, Halcyon draws inspiration from indie rock bands like The Backseat Lovers, Peach Pit, and Paramore. Jade Baker shared her sentiments about the band’s evolution, emphasizing the growth they have experienced together. Initially, Halcyon was a casual gathering of friends playing cover songs in a garage. However, as the band solidified, their love for music transformed into a dedicated pursuit of creativity and artistry.
Reflecting on the band’s evolution, lead guitarist Braden Christian reminisced about their humble beginnings and transition from a cover band to a group focused on original compositions. Their shift towards original music was sparked by a battle of the bands event at Club 110, where their innovative sound caught the attention of the audience. Building on their success, Halcyon ventured into the local music scene, establishing connections with other musicians and bands like Raze the Alarms.
Their participation in the Road to Pointfest competition proved to be a turning point for the band, culminating in their victory at the Grand Finals on April 26. This win secured their spot at Pointfest 2025, marking a significant milestone in their musical career. With their unique blend of indie rock and heartfelt lyrics, Halcyon aims to captivate audiences and make a lasting impression at the upcoming festival.
As the band prepares for their biggest gig yet, the members of Halcyon remain focused on their shared passion for music and creativity. Through hard work and dedication, they have transformed from a group of friends playing covers in a garage to a talented ensemble poised to make their mark on the music scene. The journey of Halcyon exemplifies the power of perseverance, collaboration, and artistic expression in the pursuit of one’s dreams.
