The most recent Billboard chart saw two Spanish-language albums making history by claiming the chart’s top two spots for the first time ever. Bad Bunny’s DeBÍ TiRAR Más FOToS and Fuerza Regida’s 111XPANTIA held the No. 1 and No. 2 positions, respectively. Kendrick Lamar’s “Luther (feat. SZA)” has maintained the number one spot on the Hot 100 singles chart for 12 consecutive weeks, while other artists like SZA, Morgan Wallen, and Key Glock have also secured top spots on the charts.

Fuerza Regida’s 111XPANTIA has become the highest-charting regional Mexican music album on the Billboard 200, debuting at No. 2, surpassing Peso Pluma’s Génesis, which peaked at No. 3 in 2023. This achievement marks Fuerza Regida’s sixth album to enter the Billboard 200, with their previous release Pa Las Baby’s y Belikeada reaching No. 14.

Billboard’s weekly charts consider a variety of factors like sales, streaming, radio airplay, and social media reach via platforms such as TikTok to rank artists. While these metrics are crucial in determining popularity, touring remains a significant factor in boosting an artist’s career. Recent examples include Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour, which not only grossed billions of dollars but also propelled the chart positions of her opening acts like Benson Boone, Sabrina Carpenter, and Gracie Abrams throughout the year.

In the current music landscape, touring plays a pivotal role in maintaining an artist’s presence on the charts. Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter tour, which kicked off on April 28, saw a surge in album sales, propelling her album from No. 193 to No. 54 in a matter of weeks. However, the absence of touring can also impact an artist’s success. Justin Vernon of Bon Iver announced that he would not be touring in 2025 due to fatigue and anxiety related to live performances, highlighting the need for artists to prioritize their mental well-being.

While various elements contribute to an artist’s popularity and chart success, touring is a vital component that can significantly influence an artist’s career trajectory. As the music industry continues to evolve, touring remains an essential aspect for artists seeking long-term success in the charts.
