Wolf Alice releases new single ‘Bloom Baby Bloom’ and announces fourth album ‘The Clearing’
Wolf Alice is back with a bang, unveiling their highly-anticipated new single, ‘Bloom Baby Bloom’, after teasing fans with snippets of the song for weeks. Not only that but the band has confirmed that their fourth album, ‘The Clearing’, will be released on August 29th through their new label, Sony Music.
The album, written in North London and recorded in LA with Grammy-winning producer Greg Kurstin, serves as a follow-up to 2021’s ‘Blue Weekend’, which DIY described as “a history-book cementing document of a band at the peak of their powers.” It’s been four years since we last heard new music from the iconic four-piece, and they are returning with bombast, style, and unmatched ambition.
“I wanted a rock song, to focus on the performance element of a rock song and sing like Axl Rose, but to be singing a song about being a woman,” frontwoman Ellie Rowsell shared about the lead single. “I’ve used the guitar as a shield in the past, playing it has perhaps been some way to reject the ‘girl singer in band’ trope, but I wanted to focus on my voice as a rock instrument so it’s been freeing to put the guitar down and reach a point where I don’t feel like I need to prove that I’m a musician.”
Accompanying ‘Bloom Baby Bloom’ is a visually striking video directed by Colin Solal Cardo, known for his work with Charli XCX, Robyn, and Christine & The Queens, drawing inspiration from Bob Fosse and ‘All That Jazz’. The theatrical and joyous visualizer features Ellie at the forefront of the choreography, providing an immersive experience for fans.
Wolf Alice’s ‘Blue Weekend’ was an exceptional record, exemplifying the band’s prowess and musical evolution. The new album and single are highly anticipated, offering a fresh perspective on the band’s artistry and growth over the years. Stay tuned for more updates and mark your calendars for the release of ‘The Clearing’ on August 29th to experience Wolf Alice at their best.
