B&M Bargains to open 14 new store locations in 2025, including Killamarsh and Louth
B&M Bargains, the renowned discount retailer, is embarking on an ambitious expansion plan, with 14 new store locations set to open across the country in 2025. The company has already launched two new stores this year, showcasing robust growth despite the challenges faced by many high-street retailers. In 2024, the company, which operates B&M stores in the UK and France, as well as Heron Foods in the UK, reported a revenue increase of 2.5%, reaching an impressive £5.6 billion.
With a promising forecast for the upcoming year, B&M has announced plans for a total of 45 new store openings. The month of May is particularly busy, with nine new locations set to open their doors in various regions across the UK. From the northern counties of Cumbria and Northumberland to the heart of Derbyshire in the Midlands and all the way down to Somerset and Kent in the South, B&M is expanding its reach far and wide.
The most recent store openings took place on May 16 at Eastgate, Lincolnshire, and May 17 at Watling Road, County Durham. Looking ahead, four new stores are scheduled for launch in June, with locations including Queens Parade in Winsford and Picton Court in Bridgend. The town of Antrim can look forward to the opening of its own B&M store on August 19, according to reports.
The expansion drive began earlier this year with the inauguration of a new store at Hall Croft in Leicestershire on April 26, followed by the opening of the New Rossington branch in Doncaster on May 2. Despite grim predictions for the high street, as highlighted in a report by the Centre for Retail Research indicating thousands of store closures in recent years, B&M continues to defy the odds and demonstrates a strong commitment to growth.
Numerous factors have contributed to the challenging retail landscape, including shifting consumer preferences towards online shopping and rising operational costs such as National Insurance contributions and minimum wage increases. However, B&M’s strategic expansion plan and continued success are a testament to its ability to navigate these challenges and thrive in the competitive retail market.
