These New Puritans release new song “Wild Fields”
20th May 2025
These New Puritans today debut new song “Wild Fields,” a final preview of their forthcoming new album Crooked Wing, which is released this Friday 23rd May via Domino. “‘Wild Fields’ is a bit of an outlier on the album, in that it’s quite a traditional song,” says Jack Barnett. “It ends with the words “come down from crystal heavens above”, which is a quotation from William Byrd’s lament for Thomas Tallis. When I googled it to check the reference, it just showed me endless advice about crystal meth withdrawal. Those are the only ads I see now. So this song has a lot to answer for.”Listen to “Wild Fields” now below:
These New Puritans will mark the release of Crooked Wing with a sold out special performance at EartH in London on 12 June, which will now be followed by a UK and EU tour. Crooked Wing is These New Puritans’ long-awaited fifth
album—their first in six years. Produced by Bark Psychosis pioneer Graham Sutton
and by Jack Barnett, and executive produced by George Barnett, it features an
unpredictable lineup of collaborators, from Caroline Polachek to veteran jazz
bassist Chris Laurence. The cult duo returns with one of 2025’s boldest and most immersive records,
shifting from the brutal to the beautiful. Crooked Wing cements TNP’s status as
visionaries—defying genre, rejecting convention, and delivering their most
moving, powerful work yet.
