Cyndi Lauper, David Lee Roth, The Who, and 47 others to perform in summer concerts

Cyndi Lauper, an iconic singer, is set to have an eventful summer as the 71-year-old will be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, crafting music and lyrics for the musical “Working Girl,” and embarking on the last leg of her farewell tour, which includes a performance at Northwell at Jones Beach Theater on July 19. Her upcoming concert is just one of the many not-to-be-missed shows happening this summer.

The summer concerts kick off in May, with Stanley Jordan paying homage to Jimi Hendrix at the Boulton Center for the Performing Arts in Bay Shore on May 31. Luke Bryan, the country singer and “American Idol” judge, opens the season at Northwell at Jones Beach on the same day. The shows continue into June, with Kansas & 38 Special co-headlining a night of ’70s rock at the Catholic Health Amphitheater at Bald Hill on June 8. Dave Matthews Band, Suzanne Vega, Simple Minds, Soft Cell, Modern English, Keith Urban, Tito Puente Jr., Greg Hawkes with Eddie Japan, and Vanilla Fudge are among the other artists performing during that month.

In July, more exciting performances are lined up, such as Brand New’s first local show in over a decade at UBS Arena at Belmont Park on July 2, and The Beach Boys at Northwell at Jones Beach Theater on July 5. Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, Rick Springfield, Paul Young, John Waite, and Wang Chung also have concerts scheduled for that month. The iconic Rick Springfield is eager to take the stage and entertain audiences with classics like “Jessie’s Girl.”

The diverse lineup of artists offers something for everyone, from rock and pop to country and Broadway. Betty Buckley, a renowned Broadway star, will be captivating the audience at the Bay Street Theater in Sag Harbor on June 30. Local bands like Brand New and The Beach Boys will evoke nostalgia and bring back memories of past summers. The various concerts scheduled throughout the months of May, June, and July provide music lovers with ample opportunities to enjoy live music at different venues across Long Island.

The combination of established acts and emerging artists ensures a summer filled with musical delights for fans of all genres.
