Linkin Park, the renowned rock band, made a significant comeback to the music scene with their recent album, “From Zero,” and a world tour after a seven-year break. The original members of the band, Mike Shinoda, Dave Farrell, and Joe Hahn, joined forces with new lead vocalist Emily Armstrong and drummer Colin Brittain for this massive tour, which has taken them to various countries such as New York, Japan, and Brazil over the last nine months.

In a recent interview with associate editor Annie Harrigan, all five members of Linkin Park shared some of their favorite travel memories and essential items they bring along on tour. Each member recounted unique experiences and adventures that have enriched their lives during their time on the road.

Mike Shinoda fondly recalled a trip to Japan he took with his wife before a show. Their visit to an onsen in Hako provided them with a traditional Japanese experience unlike any other. While the sulfuric smell was unusual, the overall experience was unforgettable. Dave Farrell highlighted a family safari in South Africa as one of his most cherished travel memories, emphasizing the value of sharing such experiences with his daughters. Emily Armstrong spoke about the unique energy she felt in Brazil, her first time in the country, which left a lasting impression on her. Joe Hahn reminisced about a tour that took them to many different territories, including Mexico City, where he visited historical sites and explored the city. Colin Brittain playfully dubbed Joe as “Side Quest Joe” for his knack for finding hidden gems in every city they visit during the tour.

When it comes to packing for the tour, each member of Linkin Park has their own approach. Emily emphasized the importance of bringing a pillow for comfort while on the road. Dave cannot sleep without an air movement machine, and Colin, known for his love of cosplay, never forgets to pack a variety of costumes. However, it was revealed that Dave is the minimalist packer of the group, opting to live out of a carry-on even for extended trips, much to the amusement of his bandmates. Despite their different packing philosophies, each member highlighted the importance of flexibility and adaptability while traveling.

On the topic of travel essentials, Joe stressed the importance of having a laptop for its versatility, while highlighting his love for capturing moments with his camera. Mike mentioned bringing a special keyboard for his music, and Colin shared his struggles in finding the right balance between packing light and being prepared for unexpected items acquired during the tour.

Linkin Park’s world tour has not only brought them back into the spotlight but has also given them a wealth of new experiences and memories to cherish. From serene moments in Japanese onsens to spontaneous adventures in city streets, each member has embraced the journey with open hearts and minds, making their time on the road truly unforgettable.
