Mia Vita Violenta, a Paris-based dark noise rock band, has recently unveiled their debut LP titled “A Matter of Perception,” taking listeners on an intense and emotional journey through shattered feelings. The album follows the band’s progression from a more indie-infused sound to a sharper noise and post-hardcore edge. Recorded by Camille Jamain and produced by Valère Brisard at Studio 89, the album was released on May 16, 2025, through Araki Records and Atypeek Music. This release marks a new era for the band, with drummer Alain Duguine joining the group following the departure of Corentin Sarkadi.
Founded in 2012, Mia Vita Violenta, featuring Charlie Fannière on bass/vocals, Romain Saccoccio on guitar/vocals, Hugo Lefebvre on bass, and Paul Deligny on guitar, draws inspiration from 90s acts like Blonde Redhead and Unwound. Despite their roots, the band pushes boundaries with a broader sonic palette, exploring themes of melancholy, violence, and disorientation.
Described as a narrative of illusion, “A Matter of Perception” presents a fractured perspective where stability is nowhere to be found. This volatile and restless essence permeates the album, shaping both its musical variations and lyrical content. The band provides insight into each track on the album:

– Dysfunction: Kicking off the album with saturated guitars and a frenetic tempo, this track evolves from brightness to darkness, encapsulating a sense of despair and disarray.
– Ecstatic Tension: Acting as a tense segue into the following song, “Ecstatic Tension” layers dissonance to create a textured and deeply atmospheric mood.
– Forward Fall: Early in the album’s conception, this track delves into toxic relationships and the claustrophobic nature of entrapment and manipulation.
– Zodiacal Light: Showcasing the band’s ambient side, this track sets a tranquil foundation with post-rock influences before leading into more turbulent passages.
– Breathe In: Revisiting mental health concerns, the band explores anxiety and self-imposed restrictions, mirroring these themes musically through dynamic contrasts.
– Fade Out: Serving as a deliberate conclusion to the previous track, this piece employs hypnotic repetitions and layered textures to create a gradual dissolution.
– Detachment City: The album’s closer offers a moment of respite before plunging into cacophony, capturing the suffocating and isolating essence of modern urban life.

As Mia Vita Violenta invites listeners to immerse themselves in their latest offering, “A Matter of Perception,” they demonstrate a blend of raw emotion, sonic exploration, and thematic depth that solidifies their identity in the noise rock and post-hardcore scenes.
