Disneyland’s 70th Anniversary: What to Expect and What’s New at Disney World
The iconic Disneyland has been open for 70 years now, and as Walt Disney envisioned, it will never be truly complete as long as imagination exists. Celebrating this milestone, Disneyland and its sister park, Walt Disney World, are continuously expanding with new attractions and experiences slated for 2025 and the coming years. Disney World is also building an entirely new theme park in Abu Dhabi, showcasing the brand’s global expansion.
Disneyland’s 70th anniversary celebration commenced on May 16, two months ahead of its official opening date of July 17, 1955. The festivities will extend for over a year until summer 2026. The theme for the anniversary is “celebrate happy,” accompanied by a fresh theme song performed by the popular Jonas Brothers. Visitors can expect new attractions, including a Mickey and Friends cavalcade featuring Duffy and ShellieMay, a colorful projection display at It’s a Small World named “Tapestry of Happiness” with the addition of characters Miguel and Dante, and another projection event at Carthay Circle. Additionally, 70 new food and beverage offerings are available, along with updated outfits for Mickey and the gang.
Innovative experiences await guests as the World of Color show, celebrating the park’s milestone, is hosted by Joy from Inside Out, highlighting memorable Pixar and Disney movie moments featuring characters from films like The Incredibles, Turning Red, A Goofy Movie, Encanto, and Tangled. The show includes a special preshow starring The Muppets, making it a must-see attraction.
Upon entering Disneyland and California Adventure, visitors are greeted by a stunning 50-foot sculpture of Sleeping Beauty Castle at the esplanade, enhancing the magical atmosphere. A delightful array of decorations adorns Downtown Disney and Main Street USA, providing an immersive and celebratory environment for guests.
