Alice Cooper Band reunites after 52 years, releases new single with The …
After 52 years, the original members of the Alice Cooper band have reunited to bring their fans a new album set to be released on July 25th. This reunion includes guitarist Michael Bruce, bassist Dennis Dunaway, and drummer Neal Smith, alongside the iconic Alice Cooper himself. Their first single, “Black Mamba,” features The Doors’ guitarist, Robby Krieger, adding a classic rock energy to the mix.
The new album, “The Revenge Of Alice Cooper,” is a culmination of the band’s efforts, even featuring a guitar track by the late Glen Buxton, recorded before his passing in 1997. When discussing Krieger’s involvement, Alice Cooper expressed his admiration for the guitarist’s unique sound, aiming for an early Doors vibe in their music.
Under the guidance of producer Bob Ezrin, known for his work with the band in the 1970s, the group recorded 14 tracks in a Connecticut studio. The album includes original compositions and a fresh take on the Yardbirds’ hit, “I Ain’t Done Wrong.” With Krieger contributing his signature psychedelic touch from his Los Angeles studio to “Black Mamba,” the album promises to be a blend of classic and contemporary rock sounds.
Alice Cooper recalls the band’s close ties with The Doors dating back to 1967 when Krieger’s wife introduced him to Cooper and his bandmates. This partnership laid the foundation for a lasting friendship, with The Doors providing guidance and support to the up-and-coming Alice Cooper band during their early days in Los Angeles.
Fans can also look forward to a special edition of the album featuring a lost recording from 1970 titled “Return of the Spiders.” Pre-orders are available on the band’s website, offering the option of purchasing the album on vinyl as well. In addition to his work with the Alice Cooper band, Krieger continues to entertain audiences with monthly performances at the legendary Whisky-A-Go-Go in Los Angeles. He is also working on a second album with his new band, the Soul Savages.
The reunion of the original Alice Cooper band after over five decades promises to bring a fresh perspective to classic rock music. With the addition of Robby Krieger on guitar, the band’s new single, “Black Mamba,” sets the tone for a dynamic and nostalgic album experience. Fans can expect a blend of traditional rock elements and modern twists in the upcoming release, showcasing the timeless talent and enduring bond of these legendary musicians.
