The Technicolors Release New Single “Softcore”
The renowned American rock band, The Technicolors, has recently unveiled a softer side with the release of their latest single, appropriately titled “Softcore.”
Additionally, they have announced the impending release of their highly anticipated album, “Heavy Pulp,” slated to debut on August 29 through SoundOn. This upcoming album marks their first release since the year 2021 and signifies a deliberate approach to their creative process during their time away from the spotlight. Despite the album’s commanding and intense nature, the band chose to introduce their newest LP with the revealing track, “Softcore.”
According to Sean Silverman, one of the band members, “‘Softcore’ was one of the initial concepts that Brennan and I began exploring for the record. It emerged during the early stages of our creative process, almost as if it materialized out of thin air. This song came to light after a prolonged period where we were separated. It felt like stumbling upon a tune that had always been there, even though it might sound cliché, it holds true. The song felt familiar yet uncharted territory for us—a tender moment following a series of more aggressive tracks. Personally, ‘Softcore’ stands out as my favorite from the upcoming album, ‘Heavy Pulp.'”
The production of “Heavy Pulp” was entrusted to Grammy-nominated artist Robert Adam Stevenson, known for his work with acts such as Queens of the Stone Age and The Kills. Furthermore, the album features Nathan Price of BRONCHO on drums, adding an extra layer of depth and complexity to the band’s sound. Notably, Brennan Smiley, a member of The Technicolors, will be showcasing his guitar skills while accompanying BRONCHO on their summer tour.
After the release of their previous album, “Cinema Sublimina,” The Technicolors felt the need to take a step back and reassess their musical journey. Having spent over a decade touring and constantly seeking to satisfy their audience’s expectations, the band realized the importance of slowing down to refine their craft. The band’s decision to retreat momentarily proved pivotal as their musical catalog soared to new heights, setting the stage for their forthcoming endeavors. Through this period of introspection, marked by a shift in the musical landscape towards bedroom pop, The Technicolors intentionally immersed themselves in cultivating their sound. As a result, they have returned to the forefront of the music scene, where the essence of being a rock band feels reinvigorated.
In conclusion, The Technicolors’ latest single, “Softcore,” and the impending release of their album “Heavy Pulp” signify a new chapter in the band’s career. With an emphasis on intentional creativity and a fresh perspective on their musical direction, The Technicolors are poised for a significant impact within the rock music landscape.
