SLIPKNOT performs at Rock Am Ring without founding member Shawn ‘Clown’ Crahan

SLIPKNOT recently took the stage at Germany’s famed Rock Am Ring festival, but the absence of founding member Shawn “Clown” Crahan was palpable. Crahan, the band’s percussionist, has been dealing with an ongoing family emergency that has prevented him from joining the band on their summer European tour.

Addressing the 90,000 strong crowd at Nürburgring in Nürburg, Germany on June 7, frontman Corey Taylor made sure to mention Crahan’s absence. Taylor expressed the band’s regret at not having Clown present and shared that Clown, although unable to perform, was sending his love from America. Despite Crahan’s absence, Taylor rallied the audience to show their support for their missing bandmate.

Unfortunately, Crahan has been absent from all of SLIPKNOT’s recent performances, including the kick-off of their European tour at Sweden Rock Festival on June 4. His absence at both Rock Am Ring and Rock Im Park marks a continuation of missed shows due to personal family matters. Earlier in the year, during SLIPKNOT’s Knotfest Australia tour, both Shawn and his son Simon Crahan, drummer for VENDED, were forced to step away from performing due to a family emergency.

Despite the absence of their co-founder, SLIPKNOT delivered a powerful 14-song set that included classic tracks like “Wait and Bleed,” “Spit It Out,” and “Surfacing,” alongside newer hits like “Nero Forte” and “Unsainted.” The band’s energy and performance were still unforgettable, capturing the hearts of the fans in attendance.

As SLIPKNOT’s tour continues, with a stop scheduled at Expo Plaza in Hannover, Germany on June 10, it remains uncertain whether Crahan will rejoin the band for any of their upcoming shows. The band and fans alike are hopeful that Clown will be able to return to the stage soon.
