Dave Matthews Band recently traveled to the southern hemisphere to perform at São Paulo, Brazil’s Best of Blues and Rock Festival. The band had the pleasure of having acclaimed Brazilian harmonica player Gabriel Grossi join them during their shows on June 7 and 8 at the Auditório Ibirapuera.

Gabriel Grossi is internationally recognized as one of the top harmonica players globally. He is known for his collaborative spirit, having worked with various renowned artists such as Hermeto Pascoal, Chico Buarque, Milton Nascimento, Jacob Collier, Snarky Puppy, Winton Marsalis, and, of course, Dave Matthews.

In 2010, Grossi previously shared the stage with Dave Matthews Band in Rio de Janeiro, where he showcased his harmonica skills on “#41.” This year, Grossi reunited with DMB at the Best of Blues and Rock Festival where he mesmerized the audience with a stellar performance during the funky breakdown of “What Would You Say.”

During the June 7 performance, DMB treated the crowd to an array of fan-favorite songs, including “Don’t Drink The Water,” “So Much To Say,” “Too Much,” “Satellite,” “Crash Into Me,” “Jimi Thing,” “Tripping Billies,” and “Ants Marching.” The band also included tracks from their latest album, Walk Around The Moon, with the title track making an appearance.

On June 8, DMB opened with “Warehouse” and continued to delight the audience with a mix of classic hits and newer tracks. Highlights from the second night included “Lie In Our Graves” with a “Wonderful Tonight” tag, a trio of “Pantala Naga Pampa,” “Pig,” and “Rapunzel,” as well as “Crush.” The band also featured “Madman’s Eyes” from Walk Around The Moon.

Gabriel Grossi’s collaboration with Dave Matthews Band in São Paulo added a new dimension to the band’s performances, showcasing an incredible blend of musical talent that resonated with the audience. Their collective energy and creativity resulted in unforgettable moments that truly captured the essence of live music.
