Dispatch Releases New Album ‘Yellow Jacket’ and Begins 33-City Summer Tour
Dispatch recently launched their ninth album, “Yellow Jacket,” on June 6 under Bomber Records/AWAL Recordings. Vocalist Chadwick Stokes explained that the album delves into acknowledging the current challenges faced by our society and the repercussions of power misuse. Stokes, alongside fellow vocalist Brad Corrigan, established this impactful indie rock band, where both members showcase their versatility by playing various instruments.
The album comprises 11 tracks, produced by Craig Welsch at Boston’s Rear Window Studios. “Whisk Me Away” begins with a lead guitar intro reminiscent of the Allman Brothers Band, while guest artists John Butler and Ani DiFranco enhance tracks such as “Trinket” and “Everyone’s In the Street” with their distinctive styles. The final song, “Darker Light,” inspired by Brad Corrigan’s film “Ileana’s Smile,” features the touching contributions of Dave Matthews Band’s Stefan Lessard. The film and song shed light on the struggles of a young girl in Nicaragua, advocating for child welfare through awareness, in support of Stokes’ charity, Love Light + Melody, founded in 2007.
To complement the album release, Dispatch embarked on an extensive summer tour beginning in Charlotte, North Carolina, on the same day. The tour comprises 33 shows across the nation, including iconic venues like Red Rocks in Colorado, The Rooftop at Pier 17 in New York, and music festivals such as Bonnaroo Festival in Tennessee, Summerfest in Wisconsin, and the Levitate Music and Arts Festival in Massachusetts. Special performances alongside John Butler, G. Love & Special Sauce, and Donavon Frankenreiter are part of the lineup, culminating in the final show scheduled for August 8 in Dillon, Colorado.
