Upcoming Performance Model Y Takes on Nürburgring, Revealing Exciting Details

0

The recently refreshed Tesla Model Y Performance recently made an appearance on the iconic Nürburgring racetrack for further high-speed testing, providing spectators with a clearer view of the upcoming Performance variant. The vehicle was once again concealed with the familiar black and white camouflage covering the entire exterior, with the design elements of the front and rear bumpers left visible. This allowed observers to gain a better understanding of the modifications made to the Model Y Performance compared to the AWD version.

It seems likely that the prototype spotted during this testing session was the same one previously seen. Reports suggest that the Model Y Performance is expected to feature a longer spoiler similar to the one found on the legacy Model Y Performance. This spoiler, presumed to be constructed from carbon fiber, may become available as a cosmetic accessory in Tesla stores in the future, akin to how the Alcantara dash trim was initially exclusive to the Launch Series Model Y.

In contrast to the Model 3 Performance with its distinctive front fascia featuring aggressive aero ducts, Tesla seems to have opted out of including such ducts on the Performance variant of the Model Y. However, the presence of red calipers indicates that Tesla intends to equip the vehicle with larger, performance-tuned brakes. While the rear right brake caliper cover was the only one not painted in red, this discrepancy may have resulted from Tesla engineers making adjustments to the vehicle during the testing session.

Tesla appears to be placing emphasis on the adaptive and actively-damped suspension rather than focusing on specific aerodynamic enhancements. Speculations suggest that Tesla will likely incorporate an adaptive suspension system similar to the one unveiled with the Model 3 Performance. These adaptive suspensions have the capability to adjust to driver and road input in real-time through adaptive damping technology.

Continuing the pattern observed in previous sightings, the Model Y Performance seems to be equipped with new alloy wheels reminiscent of the classic Arachnid wheels found on the Model S, finished in an elegant matte grey. With an expected launch of the new Performance Model Y in the near future, individuals interested in a faster and slightly sleeker Model Y are advised to stay vigilant for updates.
