The F/V Seahorse, a fishing vessel that mysteriously vanished in Cape Cod Bay, reappeared when two bodies were discovered aboard the submerged boat by a recreational fisherman on Wednesday afternoon. Coast Guard Lt. Quinn LeCain reported that the white hulled 30-foot vessel was found in 25 feet of water near Billingsgate Shoal off Wellfleet.

Upon the arrival of the Guard Cutter William Sparling, divers identified the vessel and located the two individuals onboard. Families were notified of their tragic discovery before any information was released to the media. LeCain emphasized the importance of supporting the families during this difficult time and assured that thorough investigations into the cause and timing of the incident would be conducted. Salvage operations were also planned to retrieve the vessel from the water.

The journey of the F/V Seahorse began on June 8 when Captain Shawn Arsenault set sail from Rock Harbor at Orleans with his girlfriend by his side. Speculations surfaced when witnesses notified Harbormaster Nate Sears of Arsenault throwing debris off the boat just outside the harbor on the same day. An eyewitness reported seeing Arsenault alone on the boat later that day, raising questions about his girlfriend’s whereabouts.

Sears provided a detailed timeline of events surrounding the F/V Seahorse, indicating that Arsenault’s failure to return on high tide raised concerns among authorities. The harbormaster initiated a search for Arsenault when he failed to return and contacted other harbors to inquire about his whereabouts. Ultimately, the Coast Guard was notified of the situation, leading to a broadcast on VHF to intensify the search efforts for the missing vessel.

As the investigation continues and details emerge, it remains a puzzling and tragic case for the families and authorities involved. The mysterious disappearance and subsequent discovery of the F/V Seahorse shed light on the dangers and uncertainties that accompany life at sea, leaving many questions unanswered and hearts heavy with the weight of loss.
