Summertime in Missoula means one thing for music lovers – the annual Missoula City Band free concert series at Bonner Park. This beloved tradition has been a staple of the Missoula summer music scene for over a century, showcasing the talent of local musicians in a picturesque outdoor setting.

The concerts, which are free and open to the public, kick off at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday evenings starting on June 18. An additional special performance will also take place on July 4 at Fort Missoula. It’s important to note that there is one exception to the Wednesday schedule, with a performance on Tuesday, July 1 instead of the previously scheduled Wednesday, July 2.

Under the direction of Gary Gillett, the Missoula City Band promises a diverse and entertaining lineup for the season. From the Missoula Big Band Pre-Season Show to a Patriotic Prelude featuring the Sweet Adelines Choir, there is something for everyone to enjoy. Other highlights include performances by Caitlin & Jesse, an International Choir Festival Prelude with Joselyn Thomsen, and a special collaboration with the Bitterroot Community Band.

Audiences are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets, and anything else that will make them comfortable as they settle in for an evening of music in the park. For those with restless little ones, Bonner Park offers a beautiful space for children to play while parents relax and enjoy the music.

The Missoula City Band’s free summer concert series is a fantastic opportunity to experience the musical talent that thrives in Missoula. From classical tunes to contemporary hits, there is a wide range of music to be enjoyed under the summer sky. So mark your calendars, pack a picnic, and come out to Bonner Park for a memorable evening of live music with the Missoula City Band.
