Retail Drugs announce release of new album ‘rECKless dRIVing,’ drop first single
Retail Drugs have announced the upcoming release of their newest album, titled “rECKless dRIVing.” Set to debut on August 1 through the Fire Talk Records Angel Tapes label, this 11-track album will include previously released singles such as “person A” and “euphoria” from the band’s first album, “i love you so!”. In addition to these familiar tunes, “rECKless dRIVing” will also feature a collection of b-sides and demos from the ilys sessions that did not make it onto the original album. Fans can get a taste of what’s to come with the release of the latest single, “manny.”
Lead vocalist for Retail Drugs, Jake Brooks, provided insight into the creative process behind “manny.” Brooks explained that the song originated from a casual smoke session with his longtime collaborator, Dylan Sky. While working on early demos for Laveda’s forthcoming record, “Love, Darla,” at Sky’s place in Eagle Rock, Brooks and Sky shared a spliff. This experience led to the creation of “manny.” Brooks reflected on the unconventional nature of the track, attributing it in part to the altered state induced by the smoke session. The song evolved through various iterations, ultimately finding its place in the lineup for “rECKless dRIVing.”
The tracklist for “rECKless dRIVing” is as follows:
1. little dog
2. waiting room
3. just the thing
4. still…
5. manny
6. rECK
7. person A
8. i wanna be cool
9. i just want to bring you down
10. he hears us
11. euphoria
