This year’s Nova Rock Festival held in Nickelsdorf saw a turnout of about 200,000 attendees and experienced few hiccups, making it a successful event overall. Law enforcement and ÖAMTC expressed satisfaction with the festival’s progress. According to the state police directorate, attendees celebrated from Wednesday through Saturday at the Pannonia Fields without any significant issues. The festival grounds saw 262 reported thefts and 35 incidents under the Narcotics Act, while the ÖAMTC received nearly 300 calls for assistance.

ÖAMTC provided roadside help by jump-starting vehicles, unlocking car doors, and assisting with flat tires on cars and handcarts, as confirmed by spokeswoman Romana Schuster to APA. Departure on Sunday faced some delays, but fewer people left the night before compared to previous years. Reports on social media mentioned long waiting times on Monday, suggesting visitors might have tried to manage the traffic themselves.
Police carried out targeted traffic controls around the festival’s vicinity and caught 86 drivers under the influence of alcohol or drugs, alongside two individuals impaired by medication. The police force, consisting of up to 200 officers per day, maintained round-the-clock duty during the festival days. Officers from Vienna, Lower Austria, Salzburg, Styria, Upper Austria, Carinthia, and Tyrol supported the local Burgenland authorities.

The festival’s police and ÖAMTC deployments proved effective, ensuring attendees’ safety and handling incidents promptly. Despite minor issues like reported thefts and drug-related incidents, the festival smoothly hosted a large number of visitors who celebrated without major disturbances. The collaborative efforts of law enforcement, emergency services, and festival organizers contributed to maintaining order and security throughout the festival duration.

Overall, the diligent work of police officers and support teams at Nova Rock 2025 ensured that the festival attendees enjoyed their experience while addressing any arising issues efficiently. The festival’s positive deployment record underscored the effective coordination and personnel strength in managing a large-scale event, leading to a safe and enjoyable atmosphere for all participants. As the festival wrapped up successfully, authorities reflected on the manageable nature of the incidents and the community effort in maintaining public safety during the event. An efficiently executed deployment strategy and the dedication of law enforcement and support teams were instrumental in upholding a peaceful environment throughout the festival.
