Eric Peterson confirms Testament has finished mixing their new album
Legendary metal band Testament has recently completed work on their latest studio album after a hiatus of over five years. Guitarist Eric Peterson gave fans an exciting update during a podcast, revealing that the album is now mixed and almost ready for release. Renowned producer Jens Bogren, known for his work with Opeth, Kreator, and Amon Amarth, was behind the mixing console for this project.
Peterson shared, “We just finished mixing last Friday, and we’re gonna be mastering it this week. [We’re] in the middle of okaying art for the album. Everything needs to be turned in before we leave [for our tour of] Australia. A busy week coming up, but I’m excited because it’s all done. We’re just putting it all together, getting ready to send it in to the label, and then, yeah, it’s gonna be coming out in the fall. And it came out really good. Jens Bogren mixed it, and I’m really, really happy with it.”
The upcoming album will follow their previous release, Titans Of Creation (2020), which was co-produced by Juan Urteaga, who has worked on their earlier albums as well. Peterson also discussed how the band has stayed motivated over the years, attributing their longevity to touring extensively and the introduction of new members into the lineup. He expressed his satisfaction with their current chemistry and camaraderie within the band.
Additionally, Peterson revealed that Testament is already in the early stages of working on their next album, which is a departure from their usual timeline for releasing new music. This proactive approach is fueled by a desire to capitalize on the current creative momentum. He emphasized the importance of seizing the moment and not wasting valuable time.
Reflecting on their creative evolution, Peterson highlighted the band’s fresh dynamic with a new drummer and shared that the writing process often begins with the collaboration between himself and the drummer. This collaborative approach has led to a constant flow of new material and a readiness to explore new avenues creatively.
Looking ahead, Peterson expressed a sense of urgency in creating music while they are still passionate about it, acknowledging that age is a factor in their ability to innovate and produce new music. By maintaining an open mindset and a proactive attitude towards songwriting, Testament aims to continue their legacy with a renewed sense of purpose and creativity.
