Hide and Shine releases second album “The Red Core” and new single “Metamorphosis”
Hide and Shine, the New York alt-country rock band, is back with their latest album, “The Red Core,” showcasing their dynamic sound and unique approach to music. Leading up to the album release, the band released their second single, “Metamorphosis,” which captures the essence of change and transformation in a compelling way.
“Metamorphosis” takes listeners on a sonic journey, inviting them to immerse themselves in the evolving music and introspective lyrics. The song reflects the natural process of transformation, urging each listener to find their personal connection to the music. With a blend of punk energy and spiritual undertones, Hide and Shine’s music delves into themes of alchemy, lucid dreaming, and existence, creating a deep, empathetic sound.
The band’s sound is a fusion of influences from seven decades of American and British rock, drawing inspiration not only from music but also from life experiences and the people they have encountered. Described as “An Art Death indie Post-Punk Country Rock Alternative,” Hide and Shine’s music showcases a raw, literary punk vibe akin to The Replacements, Dinosaur Jr.’s attack, and Radiohead’s introspection, with nods to various genres spanning classic rock, metal, and classic country.
Hide and Shine’s journey to creating their latest album began in 2022 when songwriter Chris Kelly shared 50 song ideas with drummer Micheal Chambers. Initially intended for fun, the duo found themselves drawn to the unique sound they were creating, leading to the formation of the band. With the addition of bassist Chris Ferguson and later David Anderson, Hide and Shine embarked on recording their first album, “Soft Machines,” which garnered praise from audiences.
As work on their second album progressed, the band refined their musical elements from “Soft Machines” with the help of producer Matt Wallace, known for his work with bands like The Replacements and Faith No More. The addition of David Anderson brought a new dynamic to the band’s sound, shaping the direction of their music and contributing to their evolving sound.
To support the release of “The Red Core,” Hide and Shine will be playing select shows in and around their hometown of Kingston, New York. The band aims to create a unique experience for their audience, showcasing local talent and celebrating the creative spirit of their community. With the album set to release on all platforms on June 20, fans can look forward to an immersive musical experience that blends haunting melodies with powerful instrumentation.
Hide and Shine’s latest album represents a culmination of their musical journey, pushing boundaries and exploring new depths of sound and emotion. With their raw energy and introspective lyrics, the band hopes to touch listeners on a personal level, offering a transformative musical experience for all who listen.
