One of the Twin Cities’ most beloved rock bands, Motion City Soundtrack, is making a long-awaited return with the upcoming release of their first album in ten years. Set to drop on September 19th, “The Same Old Wasted World” will mark the band’s comeback on the renowned Epitaph Records label. Produced by Sean O’Keefe, known for his work with Fall Out Boy and Plain White T’s, the album even features a guest appearance by F.O.B. frontman Patrick Stump on one of its tracks.

The anticipation for the new record was teased with the release of the first single, “She Is Fine,” a vibrant pop tune reminiscent of Weezer’s signature sound. The accompanying music video showcases the band members, now in their middle-aged years, swapping out their rockstar personas for a more amusing IT conference attire, adding a quirky twist to their return to the music scene.

Formed by singer/guitarist Justin Pierre and guitarist Joshua Cain, Motion City Soundtrack burst onto the music scene in 2003 with their debut album, “I Am a Movie,” released on Epitaph. Throughout the following decade, the group embarked on extensive tours, gaining substantial radio airplay and online success. However, after the release of their last album, “Panic Stations,” in 2015, the band took a hiatus, leaving fans eager for their return.

The band is set to perform at the Minnesota Yacht Club festival in St. Paul on July 19, headlining alongside Fall Out Boy and Weezer. Prior to this hometown show, Motion City Soundtrack will make appearances at notable venues like the Mercury Lounge in New York and the Stone Pony in Asbury Park, N.J., before hitting Milwaukee’s Summerfest on June 27. With the new album available for pre-order, fans are hopeful for a full-fledged tour following its release.

As Motion City Soundtrack gears up for their highly anticipated comeback, they’re ready to bring their infectious blend of pop-rock back to the stage, showcasing their evolution as a band while maintaining their signature sound. The announcement of “The Same Old Wasted World” marks a significant milestone for the group and their dedicated fan base. Get ready to rock out with Motion City Soundtrack once again as they return to the spotlight with their latest musical offering.
