A new video has recently surfaced, depicting the arrest of Anthony Ciattarelli, the son of Jack Ciattarelli, who was chosen as the Republican candidate for New Jersey Governor. The video, released by the Transparency Bodycam on Father’s Day, showcases the events of the DUI crash that occurred on February 23, 2024.

Captured in the footage, Anthony Ciattarelli, then 25 years old, was involved in a DWI incident following a motor vehicle collision investigation on River Road in Hillsborough. The video shows the aftermath of the crash, with Ciattarelli’s Ford Bronco colliding with a fence and a tree in front of a house on River Road. During the interaction with law enforcement officers, Ciattarelli admits to having consumed “a couple of beers” and expresses regret for his actions, acknowledging that he should not have been driving. The officers on the scene noted the smell of alcohol on Ciattarelli and observed his slurred speech.

Following this encounter, Ciattarelli underwent a field sobriety test and was subsequently arrested. Despite facing some difficulty getting into the police car, he cooperated with law enforcement, admitting that he had made a mistake and expressing a willingness to comply. Ciattarelli was then taken to the Hillsborough Police Headquarters, where he consented to provide breath samples for testing.

The legal repercussions of Ciattarelli’s actions were significant. He was issued multiple summonses, including charges for operating under the influence, reckless driving, careless driving, failure to report an accident, and other infractions. Subsequently, Ciattarelli’s case was transferred to the Jefferson Township Municipal Court, where he pleaded guilty to operating under the influence in November 2024. As part of his plea agreement, he was required to use an ignition interlock device for one year, complete 12 hours at an intoxicated driver resource center, and pay $390 in fines.

The release of this video comes shortly after Jack Ciattarelli’s nomination as the Republican candidate for New Jersey Governor, endorsed by President Donald Trump. Despite the controversy surrounding Anthony Ciattarelli’s DUI arrest, Jack Ciattarelli remains a contender in the upcoming general election, where he will face Democrat Mikie Sherill.

Ultimately, the video footage provides a glimpse into the repercussions of driving under the influence and serves as a reminder of the importance of responsible behavior on the roads. The case of Anthony Ciattarelli underscores the legal consequences and potential dangers associated with driving while intoxicated, highlighting the need for accountability and adherence to traffic laws to ensure public safety.
