Ed Sheeran Drops New Song ‘Drive’ from ‘F1: The Album’
Ed Sheeran recently debuted a track called “Drive” along with a music video leading up to the premiere of F1: The Movie.
The song “Drive” is set to be included in The F1: The Album. The film, helmed by Joseph Kosinski and featuring Brad Pitt, will be released alongside the companion album on June 27.
“Drive” was produced by John Mayer and Blake Slatkin, boasting a lineup that includes Mayer on guitar, Dave Grohl from the Foo Fighters on drums, Pino Paladino on bass, and Rami Jaffee on keyboards. Additional keyboards and drum programming were contributed by Slatkin.
The F1: The Album was managed and crafted by Atlantic Records west coast president Kevin Weaver, who has previously worked on various soundtracks including Barbie The Album, Twisters: The Album, Suicide Squad, Daisy Jones & The Six, and Birds Of Prey. The album was also shaped by Brandon Davis, co-head of Pop/Rock A&R at Atlantic Records, and Joseph Khoury, senior vice president of A&R/marketing at Atlantic Records.
The likes of Joseph Kosinski, Jerry Bruckheimer, as well as music supervisors David Taylor and Jake Voulgarides, served as executive producers for the album.
Ed Sheeran joins a star-studded cast of artists featured on the album soundtrack. Other notable names include Doja Cat, Rosé, Chris Stapleton, Roddy Rich, Myke Towers, Tate McRae, Burna Boy, and RAYE.
In F1: The Movie, Brad Pitt portrays retired F1 driver Sonny Hayes, who returns from retirement to mentor and partner with a young driver named Joshua Pearce played by Damson Idris. The film also features Kerry Condon, Tobias Menzies, Kim Bodnia, and Javier.
