The band Sprints from Dublin is set to release their new album titled “All That Is Over” on City Slang globally and Sub Pop in North America on September 26th. Following their debut album “Letter To Self” released in January 2024, the announcement of “All That Is Over” includes the lead single “Descartes” along with a music video directed by Niamh Bryson.

The upcoming album is accompanied by new live show dates in Dublin, Belfast, and Europe where the band will be supporting Fontaines D.C. The show dates are 2 November at Empire in Belfast and 20 November at Vicar Street in Dublin.

The lead single ‘Descartes’ draws inspiration from a line in Rachel Cusk’s novel Outline that says “Vanity is the curse of our culture,” which transforms the philosopher’s famous saying “I think therefore I am” to Sprints frontperson Karla Chubb’s own perspective: “I speak so therefore I understand.” According to Chubb, the song delves into the roots of negativity stemming from vanity and ego, highlighting the importance of processing the world through writing.

Karla Chubb explains that she found herself becoming more prolific than ever amidst a chaotic period in her life, where she was dealing with a significant break-up and the band’s transition into more professional musicians. She mentions that writing became a tool for her to cope with the world’s challenges and complexities.

The album “All That Is Over” is a reflection of the band’s experiences and observations of the events happening globally, including various atrocities and societal issues. The title of the album is from a lyric in the song ‘Beg,’ representing a desire for new beginnings. The album is a product of collaboration and chemistry between band members, reflecting different emotions such as anger, ambition, and hope.

The tracklist for “All That Is Over” includes songs like “Abandon,” “To The Bone,” “Rage,” and more, capturing a range of emotions and themes. The album is available for pre-order in CD, LP, and digital formats.

In addition to the album release, Sprints has announced tour dates across the UK, Ireland, and Europe in 2025 and 2026, including shows in cities like Glasgow, Amsterdam, Paris, and more. The band will be performing at festivals and venues throughout the upcoming months, showcasing their latest work and connecting with fans from various locations.

Overall, Sprints’ new album and upcoming live shows promise an immersive experience for fans, with thought-provoking lyrics and energetic performances that capture the band’s dynamic and evolving musical style.
