Biffy Clyro reveals upcoming album Futique before Glastonbury show
Biffy Clyro has unveiled the specifics of their highly anticipated album, which is scheduled for release on September 26th.
The announcement of their 10th studio album, Futique, comes ahead of their performance at Glastonbury this week. Following their comeback with the recent single A Little Love, the Scottish trio from Ayrshire, consisting of Simon Neil, James, and Ben Johnston, have now confirmed that the follow-up to 2021’s A Myth of the Happily Ever After will be out on September 26th, 2025. Speaking about the album, Simon Neil expressed that “Futique” delves into ideas, objects, or relationships that transcend time. He mentioned, “We are never conscious when something is done for the last time, and there’s both beauty and sadness in that. What will be your ‘Futique’?”
The inspiration behind the album title reflects Neil’s contemplation on how our perspectives on memory have evolved in the digital age. In the past, people may have stored their precious memories in photo albums, but nowadays, an infinite number of images from various stages of our lives can be instantly accessed on our phones. This shift in thinking prompted Neil to reflect on the people and things he misses from his youth. Interestingly, it also led him to consider what he cherishes today that he might miss in the future. This introspective concept became more meaningful as Neil spent a significant part of 2023 on tour with his left-field extreme metal band, Empire State Bastard.
Earlier this month, Biffy Clyro made a comeback with the single A Little Love, complete with an artistic video directed by Piers Dennis and choreographed by Steven Hoggett. The single is available for streaming and can also be pre-ordered on 7″ vinyl. The band is scheduled to perform at Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage this Friday, June 27th, at 8.15 pm. Furthermore, Biffy Clyro has lined up live shows, including performances at the Eden Sessions and TRNSMT festival.
Biffy Clyro continues to maintain a strong presence with their unique sound and thought-provoking lyrics. The band’s upcoming album, Futique, promises to offer fans a fresh perspective on time and memory. With their innovative approach to music and creativity, Biffy Clyro remains a leading voice in the alternative rock scene.
