A recent video clip from AC/DC’s U.S. tour stop has sparked a divisive conversation online, leading some fans to advocate for the retirement of the iconic rock band.

The footage, captured during the band’s performance at Gillette Stadium in Massachusetts on May 4, has garnered significant attention on TikTok. In the video, guitarist Angus Young, dressed in his classic schoolboy attire featuring an unbuttoned white shirt and blue velvet shorts, can be seen energetically engaging with the audience. However, as the clip progresses, frontman Brian Johnson’s vocals seem to be overshadowed by the crowd noise, triggering a slew of critical remarks.

“I was considering buying tickets until I watched this,” expressed one disappointed viewer. Another chimed in, stating, “I was really looking forward to seeing them this year… but not anymore after this.” Some fans took a more severe stance, suggesting that it might be time for AC/DC to hang up their boots. One fan lamented, “This is painful to watch. It’s time for them to call it quits.” Another fan, while expressing their love for the band, acknowledged, “Angus is carrying this tour. They will always be my favorite band, but I’m skipping this one.”

Amidst the numerous similar comments, a substantial portion of fans have urged the band to “retire gracefully” in order to safeguard their musical legacy rather than persisting to perform at what they perceive as a subpar level.

Nonetheless, not everyone shares this sentiment. Supporters of AC/DC have leaped to the band’s defense, highlighting the fact that AC/DC has been rocking stages for more than five decades, and a decline is inevitable. “It’s a veteran band; of course, things won’t be the same,” remarked one fan. “Let them do what they enjoy,” another supporter chimed in. “I’ll still attend their shows to say I witnessed them one last time.”

In spite of the controversy, AC/DC is forging ahead and returning to their roots. The band recently unveiled their first Australian tour in almost ten years, slated for November and December 2025. The “Power Up” stadium tour will make stops in five major cities, commencing on November 12 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground and culminating on December 14 in Brisbane. Joining them on this tour will be the high-energy Australian punk outfit AMYL AND THE SNIFFERS.

This upcoming tour marks AC/DC’s triumphant return to their homeland since 2015, and despite the mixed reactions to their recent live performances, the demand from fans remains robust. Tickets for the “Power Up” Australian Tour 2025 will go on sale on Thursday, June 26, with staggered release times for different cities.
