Youngstown is gearing up for a series of events celebrating its rich history, vibrant arts scene, and diverse entertainment options. The Youngstown Warren Chamber of Commerce has curated a lineup of activities that showcase the city’s cultural offerings.

Kicking off the weekend festivities is the “Happy Birthday Youngstown!” event at Penguin City Brewing Company on Friday, June 27th at 5 p.m. This collaborative celebration with the Mahoning Valley Historical Society and Youngstown CityScape will bring the community together. Attendees will have the opportunity to sample Renner Old Bavaria, a resurrected brew from Youngstown’s original brewery, Renner Brewing, marking a new partnership with the Renner family.

In addition to Friday’s festivities, Students Motivated by the Arts (SMARTS) will be hosting a fundraising event in honor of Joy White, a former SMARTS Circle member. The event, held at the Ohio One Building on 25 E. Boardman St., will feature live music, art demonstrations, and an auction showcasing works by local and regional artists. A VIP preview party will take place from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., followed by the main event from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Tickets are available for $55 for VIP access and $30 for general admission, with proceeds going towards supporting SMARTS. More information and ticket purchases can be found at smartsartschool.org/jos25.

On Saturday, June 28th, The Youngstown Foundation Amphitheatre on 201 S. Phelps St. will host the “I Want My 80s Tour” at 7:30 p.m. featuring performances by Rick Springfield, John Waite, Wang Chung, and Paul Young. Ticket prices range from $45 to $135 and can be purchased through Ticketmaster.com and the Southwoods Health Box Office.

The weekend wraps up on Monday, June 30th, with the revival of the Youngstown Summer Movie Series at Wean Park. A free screening of “Iron Man” from 2008 is scheduled for 9 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs for a cozy movie night under the stars. In case of rain, the screening will be rescheduled for the following evening at the same time.

As Youngstown gears up for this exciting weekend filled with cultural celebrations, historical nods, and artistic showcases, residents and visitors alike can look forward to a variety of events that highlight the city’s unique character and vibrant community spirit.
