Garbage, comprised of members Shirley Manson, Duke Erikson, Steve Marker, and Butch Vig, originated in Madison, WI and introduced their debut album in 1995. Known for their distinct sound and striking visual style, they quickly gained international acclaim. Their second album, Version 2.0, released in 1998, achieved chart-topping success globally and received various Grammy Award nominations, including Album Of The Year.
Following Version 2.0, Garbage released two more albums: Beautiful Garbage in 2001 and Bleed Like Me in 2005, which reached a peak of No. 4 on the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart. After a seven-year break, the band launched their fifth studio album, Not Your Kind of People, in 2012 on their independent label, STUNVOLUME. This album was recognized as one of Rolling Stone magazine’s Top 50 Albums of 2012 and was acclaimed as an “alternative to everything” by Pitchfork.
With over 15 million album sales worldwide and performances in more than thirty-five countries, Garbage’s 20th anniversary in 2015 was marked by a sold-out ’20 Years Queer’ world tour and the release of a special 20th anniversary edition of their debut album, including previously unreleased material. In 2016, they released Strange Little Birds, which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Rock Albums and Alternative Albums chart and reached No. 14 on the Billboard 200 chart.
