The Smashing Pumpkins has made the exciting announcement of the long-awaited reissue of their 2000 concept album Machina/The Machines of God and its companion release, Machina II/The Friends & Enemies of Modern Music.

To the delight of fans, this reimagined and remastered collection is scheduled for release on August 22 through UMe and Billy Corgan’s Madame Zuzu’s Tea Shop. The band’s frontman, Billy Corgan, had always envisioned presenting both albums as a unified body of work, and this reissue now fulfills that original intention.

For dedicated followers, an exclusive 80-song vinyl box set will be a special treat only available through Madame Zuzu’s in Highland Park, IL. This extensive collection includes a freshly sequenced 48-track version of Machina, accompanied by 32 bonus tracks of demos, live recordings, and outtakes. This release is considered the definitive presentation of the Machina project, with the full set exclusively available through Madame Zuzu’s. Preorders are currently open for this anticipated box set.

In addition, August 22 will also see the arrival of a 16-track reissue of the original Machina/The Machines of God on vinyl, and preorders have commenced. Various formats of the album will be offered by UMe, including a standard 180g black vinyl 2LP, a limited-edition red/black swirl version, CD, and digital formats.

Billy Corgan expressed his excitement about the release, stating, “It’s taken some 25 years to finally release Machina as we in the band had hoped it would be… This set stands as a celebration and testament of will, for the songs alone have helped James, Jimmy, and I keep the faith.”
