Foo Fighters release surprise cover recorded over 30 years
Foo Fighters made their musical debut with their self-titled album in June 1995. To mark their 30th anniversary, the band shared a unique cover of Minor Threat’s song “I Don’t Wanna Hear It,” which was crafted over the past three decades. The band recorded the instrumental part of the track in 1995, while the vocals were recently added in 2025.
Following Dave Grohl’s revelation of welcoming a child outside of his marriage in September, the band has maintained a low profile. Reports suggest that their 2025 tour plans were canceled in light of this news. Despite this, Grohl has been occupied throughout the year with various endeavors. In January, he commemorated his birthday by preparing food for individuals affected by wildfires in Los Angeles. In February, he orchestrated a reunion of Nirvana members with Post Malone for the SNL 50th Anniversary concert. In March, he collaborated with Jack Black on a new song for the A Minecraft Movie soundtrack, and in April, he astonished Coachella attendees by performing “The Sky Is a Neighborhood” and “Everlong” alongside the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Additionally, he made a surprise appearance at a school fundraiser in Los Angeles.
Although the band has mostly kept a low profile, they are set to perform at two shows later this year. Their upcoming performances include a set at the Singapore Grand Prix on October 4 and an appearance at the Corona Capital Festival in Mexico City on November 14. The most recent live show they played was on August 18, 2024, at Seattle’s T-Mobile Park.
Foo Fighters experienced a significant change recently, parting ways with drummer Josh Freese, who stepped in after the tragic passing of Taylor Hawkins in 2022. The band has not yet announced a replacement for Freese.
Fans can listen to Foo Fighters’ rendition of “I Don’t Wanna Hear It” to experience their tribute to Minor Threat’s classic track, demonstrating the band’s growth and evolution over the past 30 years.
